The location was great! The facilities good. The Staff was helpful. Great area of City (The Garden District). Plenty of places in the area to choose to eat at. Strongly recommend New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Restaurant which is in the area. Don't be fooled by the fast food atmosphere, this is a great place to eat, the Seafood is great and very affordable, easy to get to either walking (from the hotel a long walk for most seniors, easy for younger folk), driving (short drive, there is resta.
all reviews » The atmosphere was perfect and everything I had expected when I booked the room. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We ran into some issue @ the beginning of our trip and weren't able to rent a car as planned. One of the staff members sat with us for an hour directing us to the best restaurants and bars outside of the French quarters. The location was perfect. Just a short block from the street cars. Since we didn't have a vehicle it was very convenient. Such a beautiful location in the Garden District! It was a well-kept, historic (looking, at least) building that has quite a bit of charm to it. Breakfast was in along a walkway that felt very reminiscent of alfresco dining in city street lane ways. The room had a boutique feel to it, which fit Prytania Street perfectly. (Rooms are also very well- insulated from the heat...at least on the bottom level where we stayed.). I really like the layout of the hotel. I stayed in the room with the inside spiral staircase that led to a loft area. That was really great! My son enjoyed having his own area. Breakfast was served in the courtyard. It was nice to be outside and be able to enjoy the weather. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is right by the trolley line. Friendly helpful staff, extremely comfortable bed, good quality furnishings in room. Clean and well maintained. Good location with restaurants and bars within walking distance, also only 2 minutes walk to street trolley which takes you to other parts of the city including bourbon street in the French Quarter for only 3 dollars for a day ticket. The room was clean and comfortable and in a good location, just a few minutes walk from the St. Charles streetcar stop ( $3 for a day pass ) For me, the great thing was the free car parking. Many hotels charge $ 20-30 per day to park your car. The Garden District is beautiful and quiet, The staff were friendly and helpful. Proximity to the St. Charles Streetcar which could take us to the French Quarter or let us explore the Garden District with its beautiful older mansions, parks, cemeteries and interesting restaurants away from the high tourist areas. The two-story loft room was intersting and had a fridge and microwave. Old hotel with charm. Small room but bathroom area large. All the amenities a couple needs. Front desk could have been a touch nicer. Close to some good restaurants and bars and the trolley, which is close, can take you to the French Quarter at a fair price. The shower in the room was tight. I have no complaint. I did not like the small size of the bathroom. The door should open out to give more room. The staircase could have been wider. And I should have been notified about the $50 hold for incidentals. There are no elevators making hauling our luggage difficult. The loft room, while quaint, was tiny, the spiral staircase placed in an awkward location. While the bathroom was clean, it needed renovating. Our door took a few tries to get closed. Front desk could have been more pleasant. Breakfast. Not to our liking. What is it about coffee in the US? This is obviously a personal view. I didn't like the puddle of water outside my door. There was nothing to complain about. nothing. it was just wonderful. Not a major complaint, but I wish the breakfast had included some fruit-apples, oranges, bananas. This will not keep me from staying here again. One bed in loft with spiral stairs, not suited for elders and with those with arthritis/fear of heights. That space also gets stuffy in spite of ceiling fan, in reverse. Same is great for young !. Our room had a loft, so imagine if you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I have to go through some spiralbstairs out of metal and they get cold on your feet cause there is no carpet on them. Difficult to find entrance. 1. Fruits were not provided for breakfast. Wanted a two queen, we got two queens, but with a loft. Too old to climb. Difficult to find. Called and asked for directions and didn't get any help. I was 1-2 exits away and was told they didn't know where I was and that I was not even close when in actuality I was; and yes I had directions from MapQuest but they weren't helpful and had me exit too soon. Small but enough space, generally quiet, but noise travels. Limited breakfast - but OK. courtyards need sprucing up. None. TV was old. The air conditioner blows right on your head. Rooms were pretty small. No shampoo. Slow internet. We did not appreciate that the floors were not insulated since we complained a lot because the room above us was very very noisy and kept us annoyed. The hotel itself seems squeeky and old. The room was extremely noisy... It was like people passing on front of my room were in the room, people were chattering and laughing outside until late (at midnight I needed to make the guard come to stop it), and I got awakend at 4 am by people running and laughing in the room above mine and outside... Thus, too expensive (1000 $ for 6 nights) for what you get. Also, but it is not the hotel's fault: the taxes (city and state) are outrageously high! About 120$ for 6 days!. The breakfast: everyday exactly the same. It 's a buffet served outside and when it is raining it's totally uncorfortable. NO seat to eat breakfast, you have to take it in your room... The bed much too soft. The staff absolutely not welcoming. Help with difficulty. Molded shower curtain Lots of strings of hair Stained comforter. Outdoor breakfast under our window. Noisy bikers at 6AM every morning. Could not sleep late. even after tell the staff twice my room never got cleaned they still failed to make sure it got service. even with the ac working the room for some odd reason was very humid. i will never go back there regardless of the location.
