The location is great. Right by the water and in a 'real' part of the island. Don't take any notice of reviews that say the neighbourhood is unsafe. It is a working area and there are fishermen with gear etc. It's real!! Staff at the resort are very helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed. Good to have the pool, canoes and snorkelling gear available. Breakfast is fine too, fruit, cereal and waffles etc. OK, this is not Honolulu, but that's why we chose it... quiet, away from the main drag... if .
all reviews » It was only a 5-10min walk to the Seven Eleven, and Mike’s Hulu Chicken truck and a grocery store where you can also buy alochol and foods. The room had hot plates and a microwave and kitchen. So that was more than fine. The scenery was just magnificent. The water and beautiful rich green mountains with mist. I loved the fact that it was so far away from Wakiki. (Too busy for me). My studio room was enormous and my bed was very comfortable. A good base from which to explore the east and north coastal areas. Room was reasonably quiet/large and breakfasts W. fruit, eggs,waffles,etc. There are kayaks for guests, an attractive, but small pool... We would happily stay there again. There's an excellent restaurant off Rt83 on Haiku Rd (but $$$) - also, a McDonalds on Rt83 across from the Japanese Temple (worth visiting)!. The location is beautiful with views of mountains and ocean that reveals the true expanse of Hawaii. Staff is extremely helpful in guiding you to nearby restaurants and attractions. The Friday night pupus and fire dancers was well worth the money, plus the Saturday boat trip to snorkle. Great or couples and families. I loved everything about Paradise Bay Resort. The veiws are breath taking. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The suites were clean and comfortable. The free parking, continental breakfast, and included kayaking were a bonus. I will always stay at Paradise Bay Resort when visiting Oahu. Kayaking into the bay is beautiful. The snorkeling is only fifteen minutes by kayak and was the best snorkeling of the three areas we did on Oahu. The privacy of the resort and being close to so many activities is outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. Breakfast on the veranda every morning over-looking the water and scenery was a pleasure. We took advantage of the free use of the kayaks and thoroughly loved that. The water was calm, the sky blue. Paradise Bay was truly a hidden gem. Quiet, very comfortable room. Great breakfast buffet each morning. Kayak use a great touch as it is easy to visit shallow beach area in Kaneoho Bay. Bonefishing off shoreline is a plus -. This is a lovely place tucked away from the crowds. Superb breakfast, eating balcony and views, nice to have kayaks and snorkels to use right there. We loved the friendly staff, the Friday night Mai-Tais, singing, and dancing, and the opportunity to snorkel on Saturday!. Great location for quiet relaxation. Complementary recreational equipment. The studio room I had was large with a great lanai and view. Staff very helpful and frienfly It truly feels like you are in paradise. Views were nice. We suspect that the negatives in other reviews stem from the price. We were very, very kindly upgraded to a room with a view. With the upgrade, we felt we had good value for our money... Not sure if we would have felt so positive without the upgrade. The background music at breakfast was terrible. Playing God Save the Queen, which is the British national anthem was just plain silly. And Greensleaves - weird. Like something out of the 1930s. Best to play tradtional Hawaiian music playing in the background or classical musical. Only shortcoming: no bar. However, twice during our 4-day stay there were events at which wine, etc., was served. The breakfasts can get a little boring if you are planning a stay longer than a few days. The whole facility is somewhat hard to find and a little rustic. But a good place to get away from the busyness of Honolulu. Nothing to not like about this resort. It is a short drive both north and south to visit towns and attractions. Expect traffic early and late in the day. A bit far to travel for meals but that's part of being tucked away. Ac was noisy. Cottage needed better facilities - some basics like milk, coffee etc. There should also have been a phone to contact the office - whenever we needed something we had to walk up there. The hotel is small and hard to find. It is in a residential neighborhood so there are no interesting places to walk to. Breakfast selection needs to have more healthy /nutritious items. Only housekeeping services twice a week, and that was not very thorough when it did happen. noise from breakfast. started at 530 getting ready fro breakfast. No direct access to ocean, although Saturday's boat ride provided opportunity to snorkel & walk on the sandbars. A bit expensive with respect to other hotels (but here we got a full flat). tight quarters. The hotel is badged up as 'Eco friendly' this to them means no cleaner in 2 days, no beds made and no fresh towels . When you pay $450 a night this is a basic. Its a cop out hiding behind eco friendly. No headboard on the bed means pillows fall behind the bed all the time. The bungalow I had was very dark but did have a nice terrace. Very hard to stay there without a car. Lights did not work all night we checked in late, called for help someone came but the lights never worked. We stumbled around in the dark by the light of the tv. I wanted to change to another room but none was available at that hour. Wish they would have given up a discount or a rain check because it really hampered our vacation. Rooms were very dark & hot. Air conditioning was very poor. Not eco- friendly as advertised. Location is poor for shopping or good beaches. No restaurants or shops within 3 miles (hotel has no restaurant) Breakfast only between 7 and 9am, limited selection Rooms are not serviced every day, covers were damp. No phone or safe in the rooms. Walls and floor were very thin. Guy above us walked around like an elephant and it sounded like he was constantly moving furniture around at night. Ruined our entire experience and we even checked out early because of this.
