The price is by far the best value available anywhere in the San Juan Islands. While not as convenient as some of the other hotels, the location is only about 12 minutes walk from the ferry. Internet access worked fine with a WiFi booster in the usb port (WiFi is a work in progress.) I well understand that with a low price operation that certain things are done on a limited basis. The walls look thin but despite the thin-looking walls I only heard the couple next door once, and that was one hal.
all reviews » The gentleman at the desk was very understanding and willing to work with me in regards to paying for the room when I checked in. The room was just as described, clean, and perfectly suited for what I needed. The woman at that I checked out with was also very friendly. Lovely little place on the outskirts of town. I will be staying here again. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, all the basic needs met at a low price. We loved the space, it was just right for a couple on a budget, complete with small refrigerator, microwave and cable TV. We could shower, rest and eat our meals in the room, or there was a covered space complete with table and chairs to eat outside. It was perfectly adaquate given the price compared to the other prices of accommodation in the Friday Harbor area. I was traveling with my 16 year old grandson and I would have just skipped San Juan Island if I hadn't found a convenient place with a room with two beds at a reasonable rate, ($110 a night in August.). The Orca Inn provides budget accommodations in an expensive town. It's only a few minutes walk from the waterfront of Friday Harbor, the staff is friendly, and you get what you pay for: a clean comfortable room. During July--when the weather was perfect--who would want to spend time indoors anyway?. The Orca Inn was exactly as described so there were no surprises for us. We knew our room was small, but we found it clean & very suitable. The staff was very friendly & personable. We will definitely recommend the Orca Inn to family & friends. The friendly front desk gave us good recommendations on diners and attractions. When we found out the air conditioner did not function, they immediately switched us to another one with a functional air conditioner. We were happy with our stay. The managers were very friendly and helpful - delicious homemade cookies!!! The room was clean and small, but I was solo so quite adequate for me. As a mature woman, traveling solo, I felt quite safe. And the price was so right!. Very clean and comfortable. Lowest priced accomodations on the island. Rooms a bit retro, but ask the managers about the history of the building. Very interesting and will explain room style. I would stay there again. It was what we expected. I had to go out to a picnic area near the office to get it because it was not available in my room. the head of bed not against wall so hard to sit in bed to read/watch tv. Where my room was located, there was a big store behind me. They played loud music late into the evening as they were restocking. With my window closed, I couldn't hear it though so slept just fine!. Prices on Friday Harbor. I understand everything is brought in by ferry and costs must relate. However, it does seem as though some merchants take advantage of visitors. Nothing really. We knew it would be small so we can't complain. The woman at the desk didn't know about the fabulous Mexican diner Tia's Tacos within easy walking distance, but we found it anyway when the more upscale Mexican restaurant in the nearby hotel was closed, thanks to a recommendation by their staff.. nothing. Had to crawl over hubby to get into bed against wall. Head off bed was not against the wall so couldn't lounge in sitting position to relax or watch TV. Thought coffee was available in the morning in the office but my mistake. Rooms are very small, but all reviews warned us of that. It's a place to sleep, not hang out. Rooms very small. This is not a place for relaxing in your room. Perfect for sleep & showering then off to enjoy outside. Fairly old and basic facility. Don't expect anything fancy. Afew more pillows would have been nice. There were only two units in our building being occupied, but at 8am, after 5 minutes in the shower, the water started getting chilly, within 5 minutes after that it was cold and was still frigid 45 minutes after the shower was turned off. Stay the night, but bring a hot plate and pot to boil your own water for bathing; you'll need it. The room was quite small. It would have been nice to have the tv at an angle for easier viewing. small room (as expected though). The place was small for a family of four. The two queen bed room we stayed in just a little cramped.(bathroom doors did not fully open because beds were in the way. Not a scenic site, very plain barrack style look. We have no dislikes. Not prepared for the small room. Office was difficult to find the first time. A stranger helped us find it. It would have been nice to get coffee earlier. More budget friendly advice for meals. We found The Rocky Bay Cafe in the morning. It was excellent. The room was very small, but it was enough if you only slept there. Space for movinf about in the room was vwry limited. I did not like the soap and shampoo combination in a soap dispenser. I would like actual soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Rooms are tiny, barely enough room for 2 people to move around. Could hear neighbors through the walls.
