  I arrived early on my check-in day around 9:30 AM from the train station in Emeryville. I asked the person at the front desk if I could check in a bit early if a room was available. Close to many good dinner places. The room was clean. This place is good if you need a quick place to sleep close San Francisco. Hotels in the City charge up to $50/day to park. Parking at La Quinta was free and I enjoyed the hassle free ride on Bart.

  It's near Downtown Berkeley Bart station, so it's quite convenient. The breakfast, though lack in varieties, served its purpose. The staff was Ok. - Liked it all. Very convenient to places we needed to go to. Whenever we went out and came back it was like returning home.

  One of the maids helped me find the heater control. There was a controller on the wall, but the real controls were on the wall panel. Also the room did not have glasses so she got them for me. Very helpful. I liked the water filter. - location, microwave, frig, apples and bananas in the morning! hot water was hot!

  The room was simply appointed and clean. Adequate parking. The area was pretty quiet. We were able to walk to the concert venue we were attending (The Freight & Salvage Coffee House). The room we got had a king bed, a microwave, a fridge, and about everything you expect from a standard hotel room. The bed was especially comfortable. I could hear buses and cars occasionally after midnight, but that really didn't bother me at all. I brought with me ear plugs but ended up not using them. The motel seems to be family owned and the staff were very friendly. Overall it was clean, cozy, comfortable,

  Our son got married this week-end and my husband checked days before the event - Hotel Shattuck was sold out. Living only forty minutes away . . . we had not reserved a room. Went online morning of the wedding and we were in luck. Best decision! The whole wedding party was at the Hotel and we had fun taking a part in much of - Wonderful place to stay, close to Berkeley shopping and campus. Excellent food and atmosphere, very helpful staff. It is always the little things that make such a big difference. For example, the bread with dinner was still warm from the oven, wonderful crisp crust and chewy interior.
