all reviews » The free upgrade to a spa room because their spa was broken during our stay. we liked the pool, the hotel beds, the quietness, some staff. Beautiful Grounds, and great views and wonderful staff. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.the area around , the hotelgarden and - pool,the people. Swimming pool and hotbtub. The facility was clean. Free shuttle into town but the schedule was wildly inconsistent. The rooms came with a frige and microwave so we didn't have to eat 3 meals in restarants every day. Very nice rooms and view. Pool and hot tub were very nice. Relaxing for the most part. The convenience of the facilities --the breakfast area; the pool; and the van. It was a large hotel resort with a pool and restaurant. Staff was warm and friendly. Comfy beds. Liked the location and how much quieter it was than others. She acted as if it would be easier if we just left. Someone else came over and took over and found our reservation. We need up staying. An extra night with the other persons helping us. Perhaps she us uncomfortable with two men sharing a room. There is a Vons at the downtown where you can get breakfast and hot food cheap. The location was not bad and they had a shuttle to take guests into town. I did not like anything about that resort. The island. A little overcrowded, so early check in and early check out were not available. I liked the nice walk to the town of Avalon but it is a good 10-15 minutes by foot. Service at restaurant slow. The fact that they double charged us for the room 3 days after we left the resort. Totally uncool. house keeping didnt clean the room very well, restaurant didnt have too many food options. Needed a little bit more attention to cleanliness but fixed everything when we told them. Our service at the restaurant for breakfast was lousy. The food was good when we finally got it. It appeared that they did not have to correct staff.The room was relativly small and the carpet was a bit old! --- My online booking said , that the price included breakfast,which wasnt so! We had to pay extra. . The entire property needs pretty substantial renovation. It is very tired looking. My room had a Disinfectant smell the entire time. I would never stay again. I was traveling with my college-age grandson and his room was better. They had contruction projects going on and we were not informed. They turned off the water the 2 days we were there. The worst part was no water to shower before check out until 1 hour to check out. We stayed for 5 nights. Tues-Sunday. Tues, Wed and Thurs night was fantastic, however there was a large group of people that checked in on Friday that ended up partying outside all weekend, night and day. They were outside our balcony the whole time and it was impossible to sleep with them being so loud!! It would have been nice if the hotel would have had someone there at night to enforce noise problems at night, but the front desk closes for the night. Chairs in room was dirty; carpet had stains and there were ants in the bathroom. The facilities was run down, and was in the middle of remodel during our stay. The water pressure for the shower was very low and I couldn't control the hot water coming out. The facility needs to be remodeled. Up keep could have been better. Ants had to change rooms 3 times. It's old and tired, needs some updating of rooms, old carpets, no ice machines, not working. the rooms were not well maintained, there wasn't any shampoo or body gel. The room was not airy spiders in the room. No customer service...no one seemed to know anything. No water when we checked in, restaurant was closed (however, the breakfast menu was displayed at check-in desk). Closed down because they had no water and we were all sent to a disgusting hotel down the road. It was unbearable so we chose to go back to the Canyon the next morning.It was the strangest hotel I have ever encountered. We expected nothing when we went back and that's what we got. There were ants in the closet, in the living area, and in the bathroom. The cleanliness was marginal. The hospitality amenities were substandard. The towels were worn and thin. Wait at the restaurant was exceedingly long. The rooms were ok linens on the beds were torn. The keys would not work, had to go several times to get a key and it was never fixed. The big bugs crawling on the ceiling and walls the response from the staff when i asked about the bugs. Thinnest towels I've ever seen! No bar or meals except breakfast!. Dirty carpet, ants, out of date furniture, balcony door lock didn't work, very thin and dingy towels. The beds not to comfortable !! Tv kind of old... It didn't work well !!. The hotel is nothing like the picture. Small room and not clean. It's not close from downtown, shuttle is a small van and crowded, always need to wait for the next or 15min. No breakfast included. Front desk is rude and reluctant to answer your questions, wifi is not working. Totally not recommend at this price. Rooms are outdated, ants were in the room, no towels when we arrived in room and nobody available to deliver any for 4 hours, blanket on bed had holes in it, spa was broken, no towels available at the pool, shower water pressure was poor, and tub had mold growing under edges. Overall, it appears the owners are neglecting to invest money in the property. I did not like the fact I had paid so much for the room but yet there are way too many spiders. The water pressure in the shower was horrible! It kept getting extremely hot than cold in a matter of second. On top of that its the weekend but yet they close the pool way too early. The carpet is so old and sticky when walking bare foot. Overall I hate it. Not worth the price I am paying for. Way too expensive for a horrible resort. The hotel took until 5.00 pm to check me in carpets were dirty.the walls are so thin you can hear everything. And the staff took my beer from the pool area when I was in the restroom. Hotel was run down, under staffed and unorganized. The room was not what I had booked and not clean. Ants all over the bathroom and dirty as well. We had a do not disturb sign on our door and yet the front desk still knocked to ask if we why we had not checked out yet. We were only two days into our three day stay. Would not recommend the hotel to anyone.
