all reviews » Our room was spotless and the pool was great. It was really nice to relax in the pool after a long day walking and enjoying the activities and beautiful scenery of the lakes. The breakfast was delicious. I will be recommending this guesthouse to all our friends and will definately be going again. The owners are really nice, we had a great time.The hotel was lovely clean and bright. The bedroom was comfortable clean and had everything we needed and was a good size especially the bed. Breakfast was fresh we did not have to wait long for our food. Offered tea or, coffiee straight away. Very positive experience. We would deffinately come and stay again. The food and the overal atmosphere of the southview is excellent, the ease of finding the hotel, the swimming pool was great and a nice thing to have after being out for the day. The bar is very resonably priced if you want a drink and Phil was an brilliant host and hope to return in the summer.Very friendly service also pointed us in the right direction for a very good local resturaunt called Wicked (which the food was).Hotel tastefully decorated and room very clean and welcoming.Would recommend this Hotel to all and would definitely stop here again. they were very friendly and helpfull the hotel was clean and we were looked after very well the food was fine as well we are hoping to go again we will be stopping at the hotel again thankyou for helping us to choose this hotel. There was green slime around the sides of the pool and the jaccuzi was a rather grubby brown colour which were off putting but easily rectified. The bedrooms are not well soundproofed so there can be some disturbance from the use of the whirlpool baths in adjacent rooms. The paper thin walls (and inconsiderate, loud, guests - although that can't be helped), and the small spa bath.My room was above the lounge/bar which made it evening and night times a bit noisy. Room was too warm at night. Parking could prove troublesome for some people.Was too hot with heating on full blast! Would have been good if breakfast was served a bit later.

Hotel information details

Southview is one of the few small private guest houses to boast its own heated indoor swimming pool. The pool is kept at a constant 82 degrees and measures 8 metres by 4 metres (24 foot by 12 foot).

Whatever the weather, come rain or come shine, the pool is a tempting option and the pool leads straight out onto the south-facing sun terrace.

There is an outdoor smoking area available for guests' use.

Important information to guests

There is no lift at Southview Guest House. Please note that the Indoor Pool are closed from 18:00 on Wednesdays. Double parking may be required during busy periods. parking is limited and the carpark cannot accommodate larger cars

Travelling information

By Car (from the M6 motorway):
- Leave the M6 at junction 36, taking the A590 following the signs towards Kendal.
- This road then turns into the A591.
- This road will bring you into Windermere.
- When you reach Windermere, turn left at the junction, following the signs for Windermere town centre. It is a big junction with a Natwest bank on one corner, and the train station and Tourist Information Centre on the other.
- Cross Street, where the guest house is located, is then a quick turning into the 2nd street on the left. There is a Chinese restaurant called Golden Mountain on the corner of Cross Street.
- Be careful not to miss the turn, as if you do, you will find yourself in the one-way system.
- Cross Street is a cul-de-sac and you will find the guest house right at the end, tucked in on the left-hand side.

By Train
Come out of the railway station and proceed towards the town centre, keeping to the left. Cross Street is the 2nd turning on the left. Proceed to the end of this road and the guest house is on the left-hand side.
