I stayed here as I had a family wedding to attend. Complimentary pot of tea on arrival from the host June which was lovely. Fast, efficient check in and the room was spotless. June and Carl were lovely hosts and made you feel really welcome, making time to have a chat with you also. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices, along with offers of additional items if you wanted it. We were even waved off when we left. Really lovely friendly ran Bed and Breakfast that you don't get in the hotels.
all reviews » Good location, close to Torquay centre had parking facilities at rear of hotel and parking at front of hotel which was very good as difficult to park in Torquay centre. Very clean rooms with everything that is needed. The dining room and lounge were very comfortable. The breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of variety. Tea and coffee offered in abundance. Very welcoming owners and nothing was too much trouble. Would recomend to all friends and family as very reasonable cost and ve. This is a fabulous guest house and we couldn't fault anything. The owners June & Carl were excellent hosts and we would definitely use this hotel again when in the area. Food was excellent and always fresh and hot. Private parking available was an advantage as this hotel is only a short walk from the town, bars and restaurants. Keep up the good work that you do very well !!!. Very friendly couple running the hotel. Rooms lovely and clean and nicely decorated. A very substantial breakfast. Excellent location only five minute walk to harbour. A bonus is there is free car parking which was great - able to leave car there all day and walk. Would definitely go back and recommend to other travellers. The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly. The hotel has been redecorated throughout in the last year. Our bedroom had new furnture and the ensuite was refurbished just a couple of months ago. We were a group of 4 Bikers on a weekend tour of the south-west and Kingsholm was the ideal stop-over for Saturday night. Carl and June made us feel very welcome, it's not a hotel, but a very good guest house at a very good budget price, which included a very good breakfast. I liked the overall atmosphere, June and Carl were very helpful, friendly and obliging. The hotel was spotless and to breakfast was amazing. Our room was light, clean and freshly decorated and the en-suite facilities were spotless. Overall we were made to feel very welcome. Small hotel close to the town centre and beaches. The main road can get a little busy as its close to the harbour and a main route into Torquay, but that's it. Nothing - faultless. Nothing. This is towards the budget end and in making ecconomies you can find the heating turned off during the day and over night. This is not a problem unless you happen to catch a very cold snap as we did in March the room can be a bit on the cool side. Whilst the ensuite was nice and new one oversight is the lack of towel rail heater. Nothing. Torquay is quite hilly, but that is the nature of the area. Nothing. There are no complaints, however the Kingsholm would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems as there are a lot of steps up to the front door. Nothing. If we go back we would prefer to be in a little larger room though we are not complaining about the room we had it was absolutely fine and good value for money. No negatives. Leaving.... Breakfast was served a bit too early for us so we missed it but I hear the food was very good :). Nothing really, but I suppose the steep steps to the front door might be a problem for some guests. However, our host, Carl was always there to assist with our luggage. you would do well to find something not to like !. Nothing!. Hill up from Harbour to property. Steep hill to car park. Not good for very elderly or those with arthrtitis which we both have. TV never worked fully and often lost signal midway through programme. There could be more towels in the bathroom. nothing!. there was nothing to dislike. TV in room 4 inaudible (speaker u/s?) - shower very difficult to operate/obtain hot water (hosts advised) - wi-fi intermittent/slow - bit of a climb uphill to hotel + up steps to entrance + up stairs to rooms + up further hill to car park. No joke for elderly/infirm or with luggage. nothing. The pillows were a bit hard for my liking. nothing. Found no real faults. Nothing to put in here. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about the hotel. Economy shower head (water saving) took a long time to get warm, not hot water. room was a little bit small but ok for 3 nights. I must drive on the left side of the road :). No complaints. No negatives. nothing. it was perfect!. There was absolutely nothing to dislikeI.
