The Manager was really friendly when my partner and I were at the bar in the hotel, it was a really relaxed atmosphere and the ideal hotel for a weekend away for the first time. They are also doing a great deal for 105.00 for a 3 night stay including breakfast and car ferry crossing. Nicely located in a quiet part of town, but only five minutes walk from the town centre shops and nightlife. Very pleasant staff and an extremely comfy room. I will stop here again without a moments hesitation.all reviews »
sound hotel reccomend it. the staff were very freindly and helpful. breakfast was really good. rooms were nice and clean. swimming pool was a bonus as weather was fantastic 12th of may!. There is a swimming pool in the garden! And it was so cool to swim in the night!. The staff couln not have done more, took our gran and they looked after us all. The location, the friendliness of the staff, and the clealiness.felt comfatable and welcoming staff very polite. The good choose of breakfast,helpful staff,. excellent maagement and homely atmosphere. staff were exceptionally friendly. The hotel is well placed, and a convenient base for exploring the Island, and on a budget. Apparently this building has a history, and was the Foreign Office for Queen Victoria's government. Its a quiet hotel and very near the town and the esplanade. I will certainly use this hotel again. We enjoyed the whole experience, nice clean comfortable room with abreakfast we both enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble for thefriendly staff. The position of the hotel was really handy for thebeach, shops etc.Very charming and English. Makes a change from the soulless Travelodge experience. Other than the hotel was up a rather steep hill when walking, it was very convenient as a base for the places we wanted to visit. The lounge, garden and pool were never crowded and all the staff were very nice.Very quiet at night and good parking facility. It was close to the Hovercraft terminal and bus station, so it was easy to get around the island and to Portsmouth. My room was small, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was comparable to other BandBs.I was delayed and got a late ferry. I called the hotel and the owner said, no problem, you're in room 10, have a good stay and I'll see you at breakfast. The bar could benefit from a revamp with better seating and lighting,but that didn't bother us as you were so near other bars and pubs inthe resort. It was a shame we couldn't get food other than breakfast. Something like sandwhichs at the bar would have been good idea when we had been out all day. However there were plenty of places to go to eat which were all local. The room was a little damp. No not really you pay for what you get at the end of the day. Decor a bit tired maybe. The only comment is that the bathroom was not heated and very cold. I had to use a friends bathroom which was heated. Size of room.Our room was very small literally no room to swing a cat,but it was one of the last 2 rooms available I did mention to the gentleman when we were leaving. One member of staff rude.very drab and shabby environment and extremely poor sound insulation between floors.
