    This is a little out of the way and not easy to get to with public transportation, but we were extremely happy we made the effort to stop here. We very much enjoyed our stay here. The house and rooms were clean, comfortable, and incredibly charming. The hosts were very nice and friendly, and breakfast was delicious and they are able to accommod... what people say » ate vegetarians. This is part of a working stables and it was very nice to get a more genuine experience and it felt less touristy than a big city. - A great welcome, Friendly, Clean, Would have stayed longer but we was booked in across the road at the Craig y nos castle which i'm sorry the rooms are not worth the money at £150 per night but this B & B is 100% Worth the money for £65 per night so me and my husband recommend this totally.

    The setting is idyllic, with wonderful views across the lake. A great venue for lovers of nature & wildlife, and particularly good for birdwatching. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and staff were pleasant and attentive. Food excellent, and a wide selection available within a choice of menus. We also liked the fact that restaurant and Bar food was available, both with a view on the lake - we only tested the Bar which was excellent. The room, with both shower and huge bath tub, extra large and firm bed - we had an excellent night sleep. Fantastic view on the lake.

    Helpful staff who showed us all around the hotel and provided us with a travel cot. Upgrade to a very large family room. Good breakfast. Can't fault really particularly for the very reasonable price - The staff were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. The grounds with the river running through were beautiful and the hotel was very well kept.

    With a sore knee to manage we emailed ahead and were assured the doctor was only doors away which proved to be excellent. We were given an easy access room. Rob and Steve both ensured we were very comfortable. Good wifi in the dining room.     I liked the way the floors were uneven, like the old building it is. I liked the beautiful black and white facade. The location is fantastic, in the village square, a short walk from the castle on the hill and the village church.     The manager, Pedro, was great and especially kind when I got ill during my stay (nothing to do with them, I'm currently in hospital being treated for malaria after spending time in Tanzania).     The hotel is set in a nice location convenient to Hay-on-Wye and the Black Mountains. The staff were excellent. They were friendly as well as efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for them and made a nice stay even more special. The Dining Room experience was great.     friendly atmosphere ,complimentary upgrade was much appreciated food was very good and breakfast in the sunny conservatory was very pleasant. - The food was superb, room was clean and spacious, and the staff were courteous and friendly.

    Very nice coaching inn with a long history and lots of character, a labyrinth of rooms and low beams. Conveniently located in the middle of Crickhowell (obvious once you spot it, but I managed to drive past it twice), with plenty of parking space through the old coach archway. The bed was very comfortable and I had an excellent supper in the bar -... what people say » it looked to be full at first sight but in fact it extends through several rooms so you should be able to find a table in one of them. - The Bear is a great place to stay. The staff were friendly and the welcome was warm. For an old building, the decoration is spot on and the attention to detail is impressive. We ate in the bar both evenings and had wonderful food. It was busy, but had a nice atmosphere. The breakfasts were very good too. I'd highly recommend to anyone staying in this part of Wales.

    Ground floor twin room is ideal for people who can't do stairs. Convenient wet room shower en suite. Easy free parking and easy access to outside seating.
