the staff were amazing.special thanks to Jennifer on the reception.i checked out and realised id lost an earring which were bought as a present from my late grandma.She gave me another key to go back to the room but I couldn't find it,she contacted housekeeping which they searched for it and found it for me it was in the tray of the shower when they lifted the plug.great thanks to evelina who found it and personally brought it to me.this was my second stay at the Dakota.if im ever in the area a.
all reviews » The location was great, not to far out of Edinburgh. There is a bus stop 50yds from the hotel and you can get a bus to Edinburgh which costs £3- 50p return. which is a dam sight cheaper than the £20+ it costs to park for the day. The Hotel staff are friendly and helpful the hotel is a very modern design and beautifully appointed. Don't be put off by the fact its next to Tesco's on a retail park, its just brilliant planning as if you are going out for the day you can go and get food to take with. We loved the design & decor of the Dakota. It was very modern & stylish. The staff from beginning to end were amazing ... So so friendly. We stayed for 2 nights but on the 2nd night we decided we wld like our 9 yr old Grandson who we were visiting in Edinburgh to stay the night with us. We asked reception if that wld be possible & within 10 mins a z bed was being set up in our room. We had a great weekend & will definitely be going back. My Grandson was well impressed also.. Hi. Dakota hotel is the best hotel I have ever stayed at! I booked up for myself and my boyfriend for 1 night for £69 so wasn't expecting much but we got far more than my moneys worth. The minute you step in to the hotel there is someone to help you straight away. Its also a hotel that's really easy to get to and not in the middle of all the hussle and bussle. The staff here were amazing and couldn't do anymore to help. Overall Dakota is the best hotel you will ever find and is definetly where I wo. This hotel is stunning to look at and the inside is as out standing,The food is lovely little expensive but you get what you pay for.This hotel is in the middle you can go anywhere a train to Edinburgh: £3. Decor, fixtures and fittings, bed & bathroom linens were all high quality and adhered to an overall design which created a nice ambiance. The room was nicely proportioned with drink making facilities including still water and an ironing board/iron were available. The bed was comfortable & bathroom amenities were excellent - especially the power shower. Free wifi was a bonus!. We loved everything about the Dakota. Very clean and spacious rooms. Staff very friendly and happy to help. The food is definitely 5 stars, absolutely amazing! We arranged to have rose petals scattered on our bed whilst we were in the restaurant for a touch of romance, when we came back to the room there were petals on the bed, luxury chocolates and 'smooth radio' was playing on the tv - top marks for this Dakota, we loved it!. As ever the staff are very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere inside the public areas is terrific, with the bar/dining area a real buzz, forming the hub of the hotel. This isn't a hotel to leave when looking for meal options.... the food is very good and the ambiance of the bistro is wonderful. Bedrooms are spacious, clean and quiet. Beautiful facility. Rooms were comfortable and immaculate! First time ever I got an email from the hotel asking if I needed dinner reservations, and they confirmed my late arrival in an email reply. Clean modern hotel......friendly staff.......situated in a lovely little town with views of fantastic bridges. Rooms great...bed comfortable....tea / coffee / hot chocolate/biscuits provided. Extremely helpful. The train station to Edinburgh was a short walk away (15mins) and it was only a 10 minute train to Haymarket station. The price was fantastic and so were the cocktails. 12pm checkout on a Sunday is also great. a new type of luxury, great breakfast, chose Dakoto because of closeness to airport and our late arrival, and had booked in the centre of Edinburgh for our stay. had we known what the Dakota was like, we would have booked whole stay there, and travelled daily to the centre.... The hotel was modern, spotless, warm and inviting. We loved the atmosphere from the minute we walked in the doors. The staff were well mannered, polite and professional. They also took time to talk to us and made us feel welcome. Room was excellent and very comfortable. A classy hotel without the hefty price tag :). theres nothing I didn't like bout the Dakota :-). For me I have to say there's nothing not to like about the Dakota its just brilliant. Nothing to dislike. Just slightly over priced on the food. Electrical points in odd places. The location is not pretty! Next to Tesco, diners and over-grown vacant lots. But, nearby Queensferry's waterfront is pretty. The rooms are trendy and fun, but ever-so dark. Smart bathrooms are shower-rooms only... no baths. But the showers are awesome. I checked in at midnight, and the night clerk seemed a bit flustered. Not only was there a delay in getting my room key, it did not come with the explanation that the room key is to be inserted before the electrical system would work. I doubt many Americans would think they needed to insert the room key to make the lights work. Pillows a little too hard....could only use one pillow..which made my shoulder sore by the morning... The toilet roll kept falling off when unwinding the paper !!.. I think the fixture should be the other way around to stop the roll from falling off..!! A small light in the wardrobes behind beds would be of an advantage. Only thing could maybe fault was the blinds. The room got very bright with sunlight early on which made it difficult to sleep. happy with everything. Rooms a tad small, but didn't feel cramped because of smart use of the space. That I was only there for 1 night!. Could do with a small spot light on to the bathroom mirror and a bigger hair dryer. Why so many mirrors in the rooms. The full length mirror in the bathroom which is adjacent to the toilet was not a pleasure, in fact I found myself taking great pains not to look at it. As somebody who like a fairly milky coffee, more milk carton would have been useful, 4 is not really enough for 2 people. The wardrobe area is very dark could do with a light, and not much storage when you are there for more than one night, but that is all. I honestly didnt see anything I didnt like and I was in the hotel to pay and in their room with their lugguage. It was all wonderful. Nothing at all. couldn't fault a thing. I wasn't impressed at the selection of food on the menu, however the food was excellent when served. Both for dinner and breakfast. None. That I couldn't have spent longer in the hotel itself and enjoy it more. Not ideal if you want to be in the centre of Edinburgh. We are used to and are most comfortable on a 'firm' bed but found the bed 'hard' and not restful. Complimentary hair dryer did not work. Emmm not one thing... Can't think of anything I didn't like. Air conditioning didn't seem to work through the night(maybe we could work it properly). A few carpet stains where previous occupiers had spilt liquids. Very epensive for drinks,,,,,almost £8 for a cola and a small glass of white chardonay wine. No bathrobes , the free wi-fi did not work in the bedroom. Only seemed to work in the reception area poor television choice.......freeview only. They should invest in full sky package. The duvet was feather - not good for allergies but after a call to reception they came and changed it within 20mins. No litter bins or dog poo bins outside for waste. If it's a pet friendly hotel help the guests keep your car parks litter and waste free! Keep surcharge of a pet staying down please!. Nothing. The impression from outside was dull and uninteresting, especially when arriving at night - v little light showing. The location map on website could have been more clear and a sign just off A90 would have helped. The room we were given was nice and thought worth the money we paid. However we did pay a discounted price and if I had paid full price for the room I would have been disappointed. We also thoroughly enjoyed our meal, but again thought £12 for scallops was extremely excessive. The quality of the food was good but did not meet the price tag. My boyfriend and I are in the grill but I did feel there was too much fish on the menu. The meal we both decided on was lovely. Were shown to a table away from the main part of the restaurant which seemed a bit odd as it was empty. Would have liked breakfast in room. Set up for express checkout and early wake-up call for getting to airport for early flight. Wake-up call was not made, while desk individual(older gentleman) claimed he had "tried" several times, do not believe it. We made flight barely. With automatic checkout, billing was made appropriately, but the check-in deposit hold remained open requiring my call to get it released. A bit expensive. The restaurant could do with more of a variety of foods.
