The Slipway is a Grade II listed building that dates back to 1527 and is located opposite Port Isaac harbour. It features adults-only B&B accommodation with cafe on the ground floor with an outdoor terrace. All of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and some have panoramic sea views of Port Isaac harbour. Two smaller rooms feature village views. The loft suite feature a king-size bed and small living area. The cafe serves Cornish cream teas and a range of scones, cakes and homemade sandwiches. It specialises in local seafood has also a selection of non-seafood, vegetarian options and variety of drinks. Tintagel Castle is 10.2 miles away and Newquay Cornwall Airport is 21 miles away.

We went to Port Wenn and left Port Isaac. For us it was the quintessential Cornish Port town - so much more than what is portrayed on the show. The location of the Slipway is, oddly enough, across the lane from the slipway which means you get to wake up to the sound of the sea and its gulls which is what you would expect from a seaside holiday. As for the staff - friendly, gracious and helpful. The rooms were clean and we were warm enough during a particularly cold snap. We enjoyed the locals c.

The view of the harbor from the balcony in our room was wonderful, The breakfast was outstanding and the hotel main menu was very good. The owners and staff were very friendly and professional. The whole ambience of the hotel and bar. The friendliness of the staff, bar and restaurant.(lovely food) Allowing us to be in fairly high spirits and excepting us even though we were Devonians :) Say sorry to Jo that we missed her when we left on Saturday please (we took her to Trelights with us). The quaintness of this typical Cornish hotel was just lovely. The staff were brilliant, the breakfast lovely and the room perfectly comfortable. The location was right in the middle of town which was perfect and the close proximity to the stunningly beautiful cliff top walks made it complete!. Location was brilliant and what made it even better was they were filming doc martin while we were there so that was a thrill. We had an early start and the staff had left out breakfast for us so that was highly appreciated. Staff was extremely friendly. Food was excellent. Sea food was fresh and tastes honoured the ingriedients. Young cheff, but daring and brilliant. Location is beautiful. Altogether a lovely experience. The suite has the best views in port Isaac, it's homely comfortable and clean and the service is excellent we spent our honeymoon there and have returned since and will definitely be re visiting. The Slipway is a charming old hotel right at the edge of the harbour in Port Isaac. We had a room facing the harbour and loved the view. It was small but clean and comfortable and cozy!. A very relaxing hotel with first class ambience. All members of staff were superbly friendly and efficient and the food and bar were wonderful. Not much else to say then. The position of the hotel on the sea front. Friendliness of staff. Quality of the food. Outside the room, is a relaxing area with a television with comfortable furniture. The location of The Slipway is exceptional with great views out of the windows in Bedroom 11 - where we stayed. Ask for a Sea-Facing room. Great food and friendly staff. We liked the quaintness, location, ability to check out "Doc Martin's abode."....Breakfast was good, loved the fresh Kippers and room was small, but comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly,The food was excellent and the apartment was wonderfull with lovely views of the harbour. We will be visiting again next year. The Hotel Staff was excellent. This is an old Cornish seaside hotel with all the quirks that go with such establishments. If you are wanting an international chain formula this place is not for you. There are no cloud pillows and multi whatsit matteresses. If you have a penchance for swinging cats in your room, make it a short tailed cat. In fact if you are a bbw/bbm combo ( or tall) you may find the room / bed indeed the hotel a little uncomfortable. Its stairs, public spaces, and ceilings were designed for yesteryear folk. Bathroom was too small, parking was a real issue. The fact that we were so pushed for time that we were unable to enjoy the wonderful position and comfort of the hotel. Will have to stay again. Was a bit expensive. We run out of water once, but it wasn't a real problem. Can't think of anything that would improve on this. The floor in our room, was on a slope. The floor ran from the head of the bed to the foot of the bed and from right to left, giving you the feeling of slipping down & falling of the bed (especially when turning over). The price of the room is far to much for what you get, although I do understand it is the location of the tv programme Doc Martin. Having to park 600 yards away and walk down through the town to get to the hotel - actually, it was fine and it is possible to drop off bags etc, but it would be a condiferation if I were travelling with someone less physically active. Nothing can not fault it at all. It was quite cold when I was there in late May. They turn the heat off at 7pm - 7am. I like to sleep cool but that was a bit much. No parking for cars. Had to park at a public carpark about 25 minutes walk away and when all the tourists left, had to move the car again to another carpark which allows overnight carparking (at a cost). We weren't made aware of this before we arrived. No car park, long and steep walk to top of village. We stayed in room 14 and unfortunately it was quite noisy, we think it may have been fans from the kitchen or beer pumps that in the dead of the night are very noisy. difficult to park but that was the nature of the location. Everything was great. Nothing - although there was no parking we knew this when booking and were able to drive down to hotel unload our luggage and the staff took luggage to room. The shower room was rather small. Stuffiness of room caused by overheating (of towel rail in bathroom) of hotel room and bed was very uncomfortable. The size of the room and facilities etc., were as expected but there was no T.V. and other furniture could be renewed/upgraded. nothing!. It was all lovely. However, my partner and I are both quite short. If you are really tall, the Family Room might not suit you as there are lots of low beams. The short glass wall in the shower. Water ended up all over the floor. Leaving!. The outside bar area was dirty and could easily have been cleaned up. Also the room's balcony was very dirty, we appreciate bird droppings can be a problem by the sea but this hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The hotel is very very expensive for what you get. The bathroom was so small. The parking was poor - perhaps they could do a deal with the local taxi company. The steep walk to the car park. We felt that the standard of our room at the Hotel was not worth £100pppn. Because of the constant drone of the cellar refridgerators and only a small rooflight for a window. Also, the room was a bit dusty !!. sea gulls wake you up at 6, no where to park, nearest car park half a mile away. bit noisy annex we slept above a cellar with fan going all night and sounded a bit noisy. Having to haul our suitcase a mile up a steep hill when we checked out. We asked a staff member to call us a shuttle and she sent us a short way up the hill to a shuttle that didn't start for another hour. For sale sign in middle of our balcony view! Long hike to car park. Parking is a good ten minutes walk above town and must be paid for once a day (£5.00)! It would help if one could pay the Slipway for the parking with a one time fee and put the paid voucher on the dash!. Constant smell of cooking in room 4. nothing to report,. seagull noise at night wine stock limited, we chose 4 times before we chose one that was in stock Wi-Fi didn't work in bedroom. The whole place feels slightly tired and in need of some tlc. I would have preferred it to be a little cheaper price. We were notified a few days before our stay that the hotel was under scaffolding. As we were traveling there was not much we could do about it so we still kept the booking but it would have been nice to receive some compensation after paying extra for a balcony room and not being able to use it.
