We booked a suite and it was worth every penny, great views great room great breakfast. We had a swim and had the pool to ourselves its a little dated and in need of some TLC but you would have to be a real winger to complain about this detail. The lifts worked fine but we opted to walk up the tastefully decorated stairs. The staff were very helpful at all times I guess if your polite to them then they respond well that is human nature if your rude then I guess you will get ignored. Breakfast .
all reviews » Stayed for a weekend in February 2013 and we enjoyed every minute. Hotel very welcoming, clean, nice and warm. Restaurant is mega quirky and a joy to relax in. Leisure area utilised, sauna excellent combined with dips in the pool (Which was a bit fresh!) The breakfast was - delicious. Plenty of choice to be had both hot and cold. All in all a very enjoyable, relaxing stay and we will book again without hesitation!. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, loved the sea view , my fiancee particularly liked the comfy big bed as well as the lovely spacious ensuite. Very pleased with the food we had there and a huge thumbs up to the chefs poached eggs we had with our breakfast. A big thank you to the staff too for making our stay very pleasurable and we would definitely plan to stay again in the future. The entrance to the hotel was elegant and promised a comfortable and serene holiday. The staff were excellent and the breakfasts superb. The suite we were in was lovely with good views over the Atlantic Ocean and had a wonderfully comfortable bed. The peeling paint off the bathroom ceiling was the only fault of the room but our stay at the end of the season could explain this fault. Been to Newquay many times and at the last minute had the chance for a few days away. Being in a nice hotel is part of the holiday and we reckon we had the best hotel bedroom in Newquay, a balcony suite in The Atlantic, fantastic hotel, great room with beautiful views, we couldn't have improved anything but the weather. Loved everything about the hotel,the view was breathtaking,the room large and comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and very pleasant,the breakfast very nice and nothing was too much trouble for the chef.My partner and I were fortunate enough to enjoy our breakfasts on the sun terrace,very special. An impressive hotel with relaxed ambience. We had a very comfortable balcony room with fantastic sea views. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good and should you wish the staff would serve at the table. The food and service in Silks Bistro was also very good. Very good food with friendly service. Rooms nice and modern with lovely big bathroom. Huge TV, plenty of convenient electric sockets for hair dryer, phone charger etc. The lightest, brightest hotel room we have ever stayed in. The sea view was amazing. I read the reviews on here before I went and it amazes me that people are so picky do they go away just to find fault, Cheer up your on holiday enjoy the fact that you can afford to stay a such a nice hotel with nice staff who look after you when you treat them right. You could always stay at a premier inn wouldn't be quite the same though. very minor , would have liked a bigger bath as I like to read in it !. The pool area desperately needs to be refurbished to bring the hotel up to the standard it otherwise deserves. The refrigerator behind the reception desk needs to be replaced or serviced as the freezer compartment failed to freeze the 'cool blocks' I needed to keep my insulin cool on our return journey home. The receptionist was most apologetic but this did not remedy the fact that the cool blocks were warm within an hour. My partner and I were guests at the hotel during the warmest weather for years and found the room very warm at night making sleeping difficult at times and whilst I understand air conditioning would be expensive and very much under used with our weather, a portable fan in the room would have been greatly appreciated. Nothing not to like!!. Outside pool area a little run-down, not as clean as it should be. the bed made my back ache a little. Hotel going through upgrade, pool surroundings still need to be improved. Wifi access not available in room only in public areas. Sunday's buffet breakfast - we were the first down and there was very little available and what there was was "left overs". Leaving to go home!!!. Nothing. the fact that fish at breakfast incurred an extra charge,other hotels give this at the same cost as full english ?? why,also the menu in the restaurant was limited with most things charged as extra. My husband was offered salad garnish with his steak but requested a tomato only. We were surprised to find we were charged £1 for a tomato cut in half.We have stayed in other hotels on half board basis for the same cost. The coffee wasn't great! Just felt a little old-fashioned, with piano music piped around all areas constantly, but nothing really to criticise. Staff friendly, but amazingly no razor available to buy as forgotten. Newquay town itself is awful, but easily avoided. Pool changing facilities needed improving. No male/ female changing rooms and areas were communal, no privacy. Pool itself needed some maintenance work. Guests need to be made aware that the hotel is situated on a hill and may be unsuitable for older or less mobile visitors. This was an advantage to us as the location added to the views. Couldn't use one sink as it leaked on the floor. Shower drain was blocked when we arrived. Smell of drains throughout our stay. We ate there on four nights. Chef needs to plan better as at least 2 items were missing every night of what is a very limited menu. Sunday night the specials were left over lamb from lunchtime and lemon sole which was unavailable. We liked everything,but it needs a bit of painting to be done. cant think of anything. Drafty window, but it was a particularly cold few days. Would have liked to be treat like the rest of guests ,our money is as good as anyone else's,. poor water pressure and unreliable temperature, very slippy shower trays. Newquay!! its so uncooth. We had a problem in the bathroom, the shower was blocked, so water kept overflowing. We reported it, but it was not attended to, so it was still blocked when we left. Also there was a badly cracked glass in the room. Some fixtures were not working or broken, but we were given a different room which was better. Unfortunately the lift was out of order but we realise that could not be helped. We booked a room with a balcony which we did get, but the room was very small. Friends had a much larger room , which was disappointing. We requested 2 room keys, but had to get them re-programmed 3 times in a two night stay, and with the lifts out of order was very inconvenient. A bit too expensive really. It was very warm, thought at the price we pain the rooms should at least have air conditioning especially when our window didn't open because it was faulty. Bathroom was poor, in particular the shower was absolutely useless, one setting which was scalding hot. the only complaint i have is that our bathroom overlooked someone elses balcony. the food was excellent but found the evening menu poor if dining at hotel every-night which l would have liked to done, more choice please. Nothing. Nothing. Three things. Tea tray not replenished daily. No sweeteners on breakfast table. and thirdly and most importantly no rails for the entrance steps. They were wet and slippery and both my husband and another guest had falls. The Specials menu was not that special, our meal was dry and bland. Not much. No air con. It was very very hot. The letter I received on my return home saying I had used £6 worth of drinks when I had not used any. (The soft drinks listed(2) neither my wife nor I like.
