Everything. Clean, close to the center and great price. position to city. It was central to town, easy to find, large room, lovely dining room and great breakfast. Could do with a refurbishment, a bit dated.Room had persistant smell of cigarettes, presumably from the pub next door. Some noise from pub during the night. Didn't detract from an enjoyable stay. The shower wasn't great!. parking a bit of a problem. situated on main road so some noise from traffic.first impression of location not good does look to be in a shabby area . parking at nearby block of flats also looked dodgy. however we had no problems whatsoever. Baggage unloading/loading inconvenient. Security of parking area appeared somewhat questionable.For a brief stay (1 or 2) nights this was great but for any longer was slightly too basic - laminated floors/no bedside lamps. Inconsiderate other guests were the biggest problem - coming in and shouting between rooms in the early hours is not good. We were in a front room which was very noisy due to traffic and patrons of the pub turning out at 2.30am. Not ideal for anyone who is a light sleeper!. not staffed- seemed to be run from the pub below; very limited off site parking; rooms need painting. stairs but found that many hotels don't have lifts.oddly it seemed as if no one was around. fortunately we had no problems. A bit noisy because of traffic. Water not hot enough.Traffic noise outside not mentioned.I would not describe it as a hotel. no lift, steep and narrow stairs, reception always unattended (staff stays at the bar close to the hotel), room small and not very clean, noise from the pub almost all night long. it was dirty, smelt and decor was outdated. no manager, no staff in the hotel at 17.00! we take the key in the next pub. no showel, no heathers, dirty room. no excuse! really stinky! no manager in the morning a lot of noise. very big problem.

Derry Walls (600 metres) - built in 1614 to protect the area's new settlers, these impressive walls have survived 3 sieges and can still be walked around today. Within these walls is some of the city's oldest architecture, including St Columbs Cathedral and St Augustines church.
Derry City Museum (1 km) - detailing the rich and varied history of the area, opposite the city's neo-Gothic Guildhall.
Derry Golf Club (1 km) - a par 72 championship course.

Travelling information
The Iona Inn is at the end of Craigavon bridge facing the old walled city. The inn itself must be passed en route from either the main Dublin road or the roads from Belfast and Coleraine (Giants Causeway) into the heart of the city.
By car from the A6:
- As you approach Londonderry, you will find yourself on the Glenshane Road stretch of the A6.
- At this point, look out for a left onto Church Brae.
- Take this left and then the next right to stay on Church Brae.
- Continue on this road, which becomes Irish Street.
- Turn right onto Fountain Hill.
- At the end of the road, turn left onto Spencer Road, where the Iona Inn is situated.
From the A2 / City of Derry Airport (13 km / 8 miles):
- Stay on the A2 until you reach the King Street junction in Londonderry.
- Continue straight onto Clooney Terrace and bear right onto Spencer Road, where the Iona Inn is situated.
By Train (from Londonderry Station):
Exit the station and head towards the roundabout. Turn right onto Duke Street and then take the next left onto Spencer Road, where the Iona Inn is situated.
