It is obvious that the proprietors really care about the quality of customer experience. Every member of staff made us feel welcome a - the hotel is set in the idyllic surroundings of the dales.the staff are exceedingly friendly and efficient. the food was amazing, all the ingredients are locally sourced and carefully prepared into fantastic meals. the room was very clean,spacious and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

  Everything! Warm welcome on arrival. Clear explanation of everything and a tour round of the rooms and facilities. Tea and cake in the comfy cosy lounge with a blazing log burner gave us the opportunity to chat with other new arrivals. Fabulous bedroom (Room 4) with an amazingly comfortable super kingsize bed and sitting area with comfy bucket arm... what people say » chairs. Decor and furnishings of extremely good quality. The food was high quality, plenty of it and lots of variety and the preperation/cooking of it - Quiet village location with stunning views to lift the soul. Overlooking Wensleydale and Bolton Castle to the front with the River Ure threading through the wooded hills to the rear. Room 1 with the 4 poster bed has a picture postcard dual aspect. Windows are double glazed. Good to have thick curtains at the windows. Beautiful white linen. Wide choice of breakfast foods on offer, including a lovely fresh fruit salad.   We were made very welcome immediately on arrival and shown straight to our room, which was delightful (four poster bed and great bathroom with twin headed walk-in shower). The menu choices at breakfast and dinner were varied, beautifully cooked and well presented. staff were very friendly and very helpful. Alto - We stayed in Room 3 which has a fantastic countryside view. The room was very large, with 2 double beds which were very comfy. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal, where we had some fantastic food. Breakfast next morning too, was very good. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Hand pulled Yorkshire beer was expected, but I was happily surprised at the blond beer we had which was very good. All in all, we had a very nice stay and we will definately be back.

  We arrived soaked after being in a rain storm and were greeted by Lynne who wasn't fazed by the mess we were in and greeted us so warmly. She offered to take our clothes and dry them which was invaluable. She then produced afternoon tea and cake which was so welcome and booked us a table at a beautiful pub for supper. The beds were the most comfortable and have stayed in and so much thought has been put into makin - Wow! What a little gem, set just off the main square in Layburn making it an ideal location to explore the area. Our room was exceptionally clean, beautifully furnished and presented to a very high standard, with amazing views on two sides over the beautiful Yorkshire country side. Lynn and her husband were lovely, friendly helpful hosts. The selection for breakfast was excellent, tasty and well presented. Having stayed in many hotels and guest houses this one certainly stands out as a winner.

  The hotel was in the village of East Witton, only a couple of miles from Middleham. I stayed in the superior room, in the courtyard, which was lovely, very spacious, clean, very well appointed, plenty of towels, lots of cupboard/drawer space. The shower was hot and powerful. In the main building, the bar and restaurant were cosy and welcoming, with open fires and candles in the evening. I didn't dine there, - A tradional pub with excellent bed and breakfast. The room we stayed in was a petite double but had plenty of room it was clean comfortable,above expectations. Served food on the premises though we didnt order evening meals. The breakfast was excellent too and plenty of choice. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would stay again there again and recomend.
