The less formal surroundings of the Stable Bar Bistro offer favourites, such as fish and chips, chef's homemade pie of the day, and at least 2 further options, including vegetarian dishes. For walkers, Ravenstone Lodge is at the start of some of the best Skiddaw walks, as well as being just 1 mile from the many walks around Dodd Wood. Keswick and Derwent Water are both just a 10-minute drive away, while the Western Lakes are around 30 minutes' drive.

That the room was not serviced each day. the rooms were separated by a thin stud wall and the adjoining guests' conversation and tv was very intrusive. Only one slight reservation, the chef seemed a little 'worse for wear' and breathed alcohol over us at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, his fingernails were also very dirty, as a result we did not eat at the hotel at all which we would have liked to have done, we had dinner at a hotel over the road both nights.The driveway from the main road was a narrow entrance and difficult. Very limited breakfast hour; driveway access very difficult comingfrom Keswick; ravenstone hotel is more visible and thus complicated tofind the lodge. The entrance off the road to the hotel. small room. Some rooms is under decoration. Boiler problems, so no central heating or hot water.carpets in bathrooms should be banned!. our room was level with an area for outside drinking and food etc. Howvever, staff would stand here to smoke, the wind would often blow the smoke into our room if we had the window open. Not pleasent.toilet seat was broken and dangerous as I could have cracked my arm/head against the sharp corner of the washbasin..Breakfast was a farce. No cereal bowls for 15 minutes. Coffee took a further 10 and there was no milk. I got no toast at all. We only saw one member of staff who was being run ragged and doing his best but had far too much to do. Poor organisation of eating areas. No draught beer in bar. Breakfastservice slow.Small room; not serviced the following morning; window overlooked the terrace and so no privacy unless curtains drawn; internet photo. misleading as hotel was directly on A591. We didn;t like a lot : 1. One of our room was next to the part of thehotel where they do refurbishmen and there was a lot of rubish and dustthere. They started to work at 9:00 ... and they (you) charge full pricefor this room. 2. Kettles in the room are ancient and if you look insideyou don;t want to drink tea for the rest of you life.Firstly, they did not know we were coming as their internet was down forsix weeks and so they hadn't received notification from bookings.com. Sothey put us in a huge, barn-type room, which wasn't properly prepared.We were given a kettle that didn't work. The breakfast was terrible andwe felt sick for half the day, the milk was sour. The butter came tenmins after the toast etc.NOT Recommended. the bed was like concrete, staff talking until 3.30 kept me awake. My room was booked as a twin, but when we arrived theres was only a double bed, they finally put a camp bed in which I found not really acceptable. The room was also over the downstairs bar which had no soundproofing so was kept awake until 2 or 3 am when the staff decided to have a party in the bar.
