This family-run hotel is situated on the south bank of the River Ness, a 3 minutes’ walk from the city centre. It offers a restaurant, a bar and free parking. Each room at The Waterside Hotel is uniquely decorated. All of them have an en suite bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities. The Conservatory Restaurant at The Waterside has views of the River Ness; it serves traditional dishes made of the best local ingredients. The Lounge Bar, with wooden floors and leather sofas, has an open log fire in winter. In summer, guests can dine and drink outside.

My room had a lovely view of the river, and in general was very spacious and comfortable. When I arrived at the hotel, I had a business arrangement to attend in another part of the city, and the staff at the hotel were more than willing to assist me with directions. I would also praise their efficiency, politeness and manner in general. The breakfast was very good, too. friendlyness of the staff they where there to offer help with everything and easy to approach.

We had our printout and without the slightest hesitation we were put into a "superior room". Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Our room was not in the main hotel but in the next door annex - it was very comfortable and quiet. We were expecting a twin room but, on arrival, had been allocated a double: the staff immediately moved us to a very acceptable twin (with a better view, although slightly smaller!) (talking /loud TV). the breakfasts could be improved. no twin beded facility for disabled guests. Lack of no smoking rooms. The bathroom was a tiny bit tiny. no heating in bathroom, therefore chilly when getting out of shower.Quality of breakfast was not in line with rest of stay. bar prices. My sleep was disturbed by some drunken louts on my last night.But eventually the staff dealt very well with this. staff comunication, are room was'nt ready so they put us in another room then they gave the same room to another couple and they simply walked in to our room with another key!!!. Room we stopped in was dated. no free internet. bar and restaurant area is very nice. The shower in the room was poor with no pressure. not informed about music night which went on until 11.00pm and was cleary audable in rooms. Stayed at same hotel years ago, and the bottom of the bedroom doors still don`t fit. pressume cleaner had turned down heating in room, so initially room was freezing, by about 9,30pm is was satisfactory. (mius 4 outside.). Waiter at the restaurant regularly disappeared. Maybe it is not a hotel fault.need better directions. A bit expensive given the limited services/facilities but ideal location probably determines price.The room we were in (107) needs a bit of a make over, lick of paint, new curtains etc. Bit worn and dated. Potato scones should be fried !! Healthy or not a dry and toasted is not the way to eat them. A beat small parking lot. Its very common in Hotels, the shower was terrible. Breakfast was slow. walls thin between rooms could hear conversation in next room. also food at dinner was packet and frozen.Service. Lights did not work when I arrived; then the girl changed the fuse but didn't check the lights themselves so I had a dud bedside light at night.Chef forgot my pudding order. TV had very poor reception.bathroom needs upgrading. room broken shower very dated. The value for money. I did not object to the price for the room butthought that the overall quality did not justify the price. Wifi internet advertised but not clear it required signup to ISP + costs until after arrival. Evening menu looked good until discovered it was effectively a 'minimum charge' for residents subject to aditional costs if more expensive menu items chosen, but no reduction offered if cheaper menu chosen. Comparable or better service in local BandB (Including free wireless internet). I felt that because I booked online, and I paid less for the room, I felt that I received a sub standard room - no bath, noisy ground floor back room. Food was expensive!. Reception staff attitude and room was dirty.

Refurbishment is being carried out on the 30 bedrooms to ensure the quality of accommodation is to the standard people associate with a 3 star hotel. The Waterside will remain open with work carried out in various stages through the winter months to ensure as little disruption as possible to guests. All rooms are en-suite. Rooms with a river view are available. The cathedral, Eden Court and the wonderful trees along Ness Bank which reflect the changing seasons in the waters of the Ness can be seen from every table in the Restaurant and from some of our bedrooms.

Travelling information

A9/A96 - Follow the signs to Inverness City Centre. Once in Inverness, drive straight through Academy Street. At the end of Academy Street and before the roundabout turn left towards the Ness River. Drive along the River and through the traffic lights at Johnny Foxes (the Irish Pub). The Waterside is the hotel with the large Conservatory after the Glen Mhor Hotel (our sister hotel) and a couple of B&B'S. A82 - Follow the signs to Inverness City Centre. Drive over the Ness Bridge and up Castle Street past McDonald's and at the traffic lights, turn right towards the river and drive along. The hotel has got a big conservatory after the Glen Mhor Hotel (our sister hotel) and a couple of B&Bs.
