What people say
Having never stayed at this type of lodging we were a little hesitant and unsure what to expect after reading the reviews; however we were pleasantly surprised! We had an amazing view of the castle, and a large spacious room. Location is close to everything Edinburgh has to offer if you don't mind hills, there are lots of taxis nearby as well. During Fringe we were limited because everyone jacks their rates but this was affordable and made our stay in Edinburgh very pleasant!. all reviews »
It was very clean and convenient. A reasonable price for a city location
so was not put off going. I was able to be in the same flat as friend I
went with. We were able to make use of the kitchen which saved money for
eating out. The staff were very friendly and fun.
We travelled with another couple and were given 2 great rooms in an annexe away from the main building. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel was easy to find. We would definitely go back again, it is great value for money and in a very central location.
Excellent location (5-10 minutes walk from Grassmarket and castle and 15/20 mins from Prince's St) and great value. Studio kitchen was adequately equipped (hob, oven, m/w, toaster, fridge with freezer tray) and tea/coffee, towels and shampoo etc provided.
Excellent location, near the Castle and a few blocks away from Princess Street.
The room was very clean and comfortable.
You DO have to ask for new towels and cleaning - remember, it's a studio, it's not a hotel.
Very convenient location for enjoying The Fringe. The studio apartment was compact but had everything we needed. fantastic view across to the castle...& fireworks at the end of the Tattoo each evening.
Very central location with Edinburgh castle, Grassmarket etc within walking distance. Very clean & well maintained room with ensuite bathroom & use of kitchen, laundry facilities, WIFI.
Staff very accommodating. we arrived late in the evening after reception closed but with a phonecall a staff member arrived to check us in.
Its very central to the castle and great pubs .
So convenient to the tourist attractions rooms were more than adequate for budget accomadation I had a view of the castle from bedroom and even better from our shared lounge/kitchen.
Room was very clean, the location is excellent, it is a student residence so do not excpect too much but it is a great and clean place to stay.
Excellent value for money. Well appointed rooms and the shared kitchen facilities were great. Good location & friendly helpful staff.
The staff were brilliant - they couldn't have been more helpful. The location was great, right in the centre of things.
Liked the freedom to come and go.I was a student at the art college and it was so handy .
Close proximity to College of Art where I was participating in Summer School.
Great personnel. Its location is near to every important place in Edinburgh.
great location, helpful staff, good lift, adequate size, quiet at night.

Location.
Location.
Convenient location
self catering facilities
Reception staff didn't make eye contact when we arrived or smile & appeared to be talking to someone in the back room about an unrelated matter.
Location was great for the fringe. Friendly staff though fixing a light
bulb took 2 days.
A cheap place to stay in Edinburgh during the festivals.
location
Staff helpful
free wifi.
Every thing ok.
Easy access.
The bed was awful, but hey! Can't win em all ;).
Would have preferred a bedside table as lost something in the gap at
side of bed and had to remove mattress to retrieve it! Used chair in end
so it was fine. Would have liked toilet cleaning things available but
realise that students provide their own so not real problem. Would have
liked some local recycling facilities but used those in Grassmarket.
Were challenged when we wanted more coffee as we had run out. Bed quite hard and you could feel springs.
vacuum cleaner didn't work!.
The shower was quiet small with very little shelf space in the bathroom for toilletries.
Nothing.
it answered my excpectations perfectly.
Nothing to dislike.
A bit noisy - but it was a city centre location!.
The banging of doors late at night.
Noisiness of other guests in the corridor late night/early morning in the first week.
Mattress was not comfy, made sounds and i could feel the springs.
No loo brush.
shower was noisy.
Didn't have room cleaning
No offering of fresh towels.
You are charging same as central hotels...but no soaps, tea, coffee facilities, or TV....beds are basic camp bed style.
My room was next to the kitchen door and I got woken up every time someone opened as it was on a powerful spring which meant it slammed shut. Also, I thought it odd that I wasn't given a toilet brush given that the room wasn't cleaned while I was there - which otherwise didn't bother me.
Mattress a liitle hard and not very well insulated against noise in other rooms above and next door. No window and no safety catch on patio door so room stuffy.
honestly... N O T H I N G!.
smell.
Edinburgh not good for wheel chair users.
The bed was a bit lumpy and worn out.
A few coat hooks would have made living easier.
Street noise, stay in the rooms nearer the road, people walking tend to talk too loud.
too hot in the room, yet you can't open the window.
I had to wait for half an hour when I arrived because it was 22:08 and
their reception was already closed. Door in my room didnt lock.
The mattress was old and definitely needed replacing.
There's no desk light.
no soap
no hair dryer
matress.
Pole dancing clubs around.
Value for money.
