  Arrived on a very busy Sunday afternoon and found parking difficult,probably due to lunch trade and that the car park is shared with the livery business. There were chickens & turkeys wandering about presenting a very rural atmosphere in this once working farm. The staff were very friendly on checking in and when we dined in the evening we rea... what people say » lised why the car park had been so full, the portions in our carvery meal were huge. Obviously the locals know this and receive value for money dining - Lovely room, with nice view. Thoughtful touches, such as the fresh orange juice and cookies on arrival. Wi-fi very useful. Evening meal very tasty, and HUGE portions! Lovely to go to car in the morning, and be watched by loads of horses, to pet the donkeys and be mobbed by the sheep, and to see alpaca and lambs! Ideal location for my business purposes, but will come back with the family when our children are a little older!

  Rairly do places live up to their reputation, this is the exception!, Truly a delightfull stay with the locals as friendly as mentioned in other reviews and a true timepiece of a pub just like yesteryear, simon was helpfull and attentive from the moment we arrived. We dined in the evening and enjoyed the reasonably price pub fare as did we the exc... what people say » elent cooked to order breakfast and are looking foreward to our next stay in a weeks time, after bagging the warm spot by the coal fire i forgot it wa - the staff and owner were exceptionally friendly, there are only a few rooms so you were made to feel welcome not just another customer. the room was very clean and breakfast relaxed and friendly. we ate our evening meal there and it could not be faulted for quality, quantity and value it was also only half mile stroll to beamish museum which was our original destination but would definitely go back to stay again
