What people say
The hotel was lovely. The setting was beautiful, the rooms were spacious, attractive and very clean. The whole setting had a wonderful atmosphere. The food and drinks were excellent, and the staff could not have done more to make us comfortable. I have since recommended this hotel to all my friends and colleagues who are all booking in through Christmas and the new year. Everything! The taste of the room, the nature and the views which can be seen from the hotel were excellent. Just staying in the hotel was good enough to enjoy the day. The staffs were very friendly.all reviews »
We were really happy with the atmosphere at the Wheelwrights Arms - it was exactly what were looking for!. It is an absolute hidden gem. Cannot recommend it highly enough.Fantastic views, good food, wonderful accomodation. Everything, especially the food. Everything was superb!. Everything was perfect! The room was gorgeous with a lovely big ensuite bathroom and lots of nice little touches. Great food for breakfast and sunday lunch, friendly staff and lovely bar area with big open fire! Wonderful!. The personal touches;luxury shower gels;bath robes+ extensive choice on hospitality tray.Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful country inn renovated to an exeptionally high standard. Outstanding cooked breakfast!. The food was delicious. The site is beautiful, with lovely views ofthe valley. Good food, friendly staff, lovely location. everything. The stay was very relaxing with fantastic countryside and quality cuisine.Very charming country side pub with modern room.Very nice experience. the food was excellent. lovely room. Lovely quiet location. quality room and meals in a relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff without being intrusive. Very quiet and peaceful, great food and hospitality. cosy pup atmosphere and good beer. Lovely room. Breakfast was great. The rooms have been deisgned with great attention to detail - beautiful wooden floors and simple yet sylish accessories made the room very comfortable. Loved the little touches like the bath robes, sweeties and ceffetiere for coffee rather than the usual sachet of instant! The bathroom was huge and the the big tub was fab!! Food was excellent too.the location was very peaceful with lovely views, rooms had been decorated to a high standard and quality of the food in the pub was really good. The building and the rooms was interesting and stylish, the location howev3er was rather difficult inthat it was facing the busy gardenenterance to the pub/resturant and as such was rather noisey, we stayed on a Monday night so it was relatively quite I would emagine that at the week-end it would be very noisey. The bathroom was good but the shower pressure was too high and resulted flooding!. excellent decor and food. location. Pleasant environment, nicely decorated, very clean. Very pleasant and relaxing, great room and nice breakfast! Highly recommended. Attention to detail. The room was nice and clean. James was very helpful. The evening meal was a little disappointing - tough rabbit; no roast potatoes with Sunday roast dinner and barely warm.Great breakfast.Didn't appreciate the heavy, masculine paintings nor the jazz for dinner and breakfast.Everything else was very tasteful and in keeping. Hotel was quite hard to find and not easily accesible but this is what gives it its authentic country inn feel.the price of food was a little to high, but very nice. tv reception was poor, it kept flicking whilst watching. If possible I'd ask for a top floor room - the ground floor rooms suffered from noise from the rooms above - simply because of the wooden floors. We were on the ground floor and could hear every single movement from the people above us - you can't have wooden fllors though without noise!! Maybe the first floor ones need some extra rugs or runners to reduce noise?! Also when the bathroom door opened it made the window shutters open so you could be seen by everyone who was sitting outside!!. the only thing that I would have liked was the option to have a shower as there was only a bath available. see above. My recommendation of the hotel would be limited to mid week and for a short period.Quite noisy as room was directly opposite a room being used for a party above the pub. The food was only OK. The room was a bit cold as the heating was not on and it was also cold in the dining room. Although they did turn the heating on in the morning, when I asked.Just one, as we were on a ground floor room you can hear quite a lot of noise coming from the room above, as the rooms have wooden floors. Yes, walls paper thin and no bath. The food disappointed me a couple of times, for example the crab starter!. The inn was the only one around so there was no competition. We were in a ground floor room and the shutters on the window had no security, the lock hadn't been fitted properly, so opening a window during the night was difficult which made the room uncomfortable.
