The location was excellent, in the Zurich Old town, very close to shopping, and to Zurich hbf and Landesmuseum. Yet, for this location rather quiet. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. Although a city hotel, yet it feels personal. A manager or owner personally appeared in the breakfast room overlooking things, doing whatever needed doing and talking to guests. The room was tiny, yet it felt small and cozy rather than cramped, the'd made their best of the available space. Interesting old t.
all reviews » The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable. The free wifi was a real bonus as was the complimentary tea and coffee in the reception area. The breakfast room was beautiful and the service very good. The location was fantastic and thankfully the hotel is on the quieter side of the old quarter which meant that one wasn't disturbed by people coming out of the bars and cafés late at night. a nice hotel with Charme in the old part of town. many shops and restaurants around. also close to park with superb view over Zurich. overall very convenient location to explore the heart of the city. The staff was super friendly and helpful. and you can always grab a coffee, some cookies and some fruits near reception. Great location and atmosphere in the heart of the old part of the city. Restaurant is relaxed with space outside to watch the world go by. Hotel owner is very engaging and helpful. Have a free minibar with a selection of drinks - beer wine and soft drinks. The Wifi was free, but unfortunately did not function well enough on the 3rd floor to be useful, (it was too intermittent). The room was a little warm. There was a fan, but the air was still warm (this was the hottest time of summer). The elevator was a little confusing and felt scary. The room felt cozy when staying 2 nights, but would have been too small if I'd been staying longer than that. The price was a little on the expensive side but most decent hotels in Zurich are. Hotel is a listed building so does not have air conditioning. I stayed during a heat wave and we had to keep the windows and shutters closed. The staff did all they could to keep the hotel cool with fans. No complaints. Cannot think of a thing.... Breakfast was average. Difficult to find. room is too small, so a bit overprice for the hotel itself.. probably is because the location. Haesten Beds were very uncomfortable, staff in the morning at breakfast needs much more European training, lady of the house engages in very loud conversations with obnoxious cross atlantic travellers.
