The Männlichen Cable Car is located right across from the property. The lounge bar is equipped with a cosy fireplace. The Sunstar Alpine Hotel Wengen also has a steam bath and a sun bed. During the warmer months, guests can relax in the garden, which also has a trampoline. A 5-course menu with several choices based on fresh, regional ingredients is offered in the restaurant. You can select from a delicious range of starters, salads from the buffet, various soups and 3 main courses (meat, fish, vegetarian) plus the chef's seasonal recommendations. There is also a choice of tasty desserts and twice a week the chef invites you to a special themed dinner.

The hotel is located on the main street of Wengen which is like the Hobbit Shire, but for humans. Oliver the manager and Bridgette the front end staff were so helpful. The hotel is very comfortable with a beautiful pool, great breakfast buffet and overall charm. Highly recommend that you let the front staff know if you need to leave early in the morning for a tour etc, especially if there is a tour group staying at the hotel. The tour group ate all the food in the buffet within 15 minutes on.

Please note that Wengen is a car-free village. You can reach Wengen only by train. Park your car at Lauterbrunnen Station and take the train to Wengen. The train ride to Wengen takes approximately 20 minutes.

Information about the area

Wengen, one of the largest mountain health resorts in the Bernese Oberland, is situated on a sunny, wind-sheltered plateau at the foot of the Jungfrau mountain. The village cannot be reached by motorised vehicles, so it is free from cars and dust. Wengen is a recognised “climate health resort” (stimulant level 2) at a medium altitude (1,300 m), with long sunshine hours, dry, clean air and no extreme temperatures in summer or winter.
