In the winter the local skiing is excellent, and in summer Hotel Sonnenberg is the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding area on foot or by bike. A ski deposit room in the centre of Grindelwald is available for a surcharge. Hotel Sonnenberg is a 5-minute walk from the train station.

Staying at the Sonnenberg was nothing but a pleasure. This family run hotel is cosy, comfortable and as far as you get from a big anonymous hotel. Yes it's up a hill and you can't get your car very close but that is part of its charm and perfectly clear before you book. You feel as if you are part of the family and treated with great friendliness and courtesy. Hotel is situated on a hill with a short but steep path leading up to it. Difficult to negotiate with a bad back and luggage. I overcame this problem this year by taking a local bus to the bus stop above the hotel (Gaggi Sage) and it was much easier to get my bags downhill along the Sonnenweg to the hotel. Reception closes at 9 but as it is a family run hotel with an early start, I can totally understand why. Would love to be able to sit there longer it was so gorgeous. There is a 150 meter uphill walk to the hotel from the parking lot. That would be the only deterrant to some that would find a walk difficult. The uphill walkway to the hotel from parking space. Please note that parking is available next to Chalet Berg Idyll. Hotel Sonnenberg is 200 metres away (slight uphill walk). If you arrive with children, please inform the property about their number and age. You can use the Special Requests box when booking or contact the property. When arriving by train, please refer to the signs and walk straight up opposite the train station. It is not recommended to use a navigational device for walking to the hotel.
