Hotel information details

"Once upon a time" is a fitting introduction to Fjällgården. Or Fjällstugan as it was called when together with the Mountain Railway (Bergbanan) it was inaugurated on 7 March 1910 by HRH Prince Carl. At that time Åre was a summer tourist resort. The coming of the railway brought the "convalescents", fine townspeople who wanted to experience fresh air and the magnificent setting.

Even though downhill skiing started to be on the decline in the 1930s, Alpine skiing made its first breakthrough in 1953-54 when the Skiing World Championships were held in Åre and the Swiss and American teams stayed at Fjällgården. The rest is Swedish Alpine history and can be found in the hotel's walls, tables, pepper pots, chair legs and beams.

Important information to guests

The outdoor hot tubs are free to use from 15:00 until 18:00, during December-April. Hourly charges apply at all other times. Please note that when booking a Budget Room, breakfast is served as a breakfast package, and additional facilities such as restaurant and spa will be closed. Please inform Hotell Fjällgården Åre in advance of your expected arrival time.
