The Nooit Gedacht Resort is an Island of peace and relaxation. It is run on an ecological and sustainable basis. Therefore you will not find any TV or radio in the room and alcohol is not offered, but AC is providet. The rooms in the new part are equipped suitable, the bathroom is clean. The view from the balcony right on a jungle hill is overwhelming. It is a pleasure to watch the girls picking the flowers in the morning which you will find on your bed in the evening. all reviews » We stayed at Nooit Gedacht for 3 nights during the low season and got 5 star treatment. The place was kept at the highest standards, despite us being the only guests at the time. Pools, gardens (with lots of widlife), food and of course the ayurveda treatments, it was all perfect. The location is also great - just a few minutes walk from Unawatuna beach, but enough to have some peace - and there is a pleasant walk over the hill to a little village and a quiet little bay called Jungle Beach. We . Built around an historical Dutch colonial mansion this hotel has a warm rustic atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. The comfortable spacious rooms have been well appointed to modern standards. Although the food needs to be ordered in advance the kitchen produces good traditional and international meals. The well run spa offers a wide range of ayurvedic massage. Located about 15 minutes drive from the historic fort at Galle and within walking distance of beaches it is a good place to. Old time colonial feel in a tranquil village atmosphere.A Walk around the property is more relaxing than walking on the beach.A Really comfortable place with a highly attending staff.The owners young daughter takes special care of the guests. My mother and I stayed at this beautiful heritage property last week. The staff are wonderful warm and helpful. One must try the freshly prepared Sri Lankan meals of curries with rice. The property is almost 300 years old and is very charming. We enjoyed the calm surrounds and close access to Galle fort and Kogalla Lake by tuk tuk. Unawatuna beach is a few minutes walk. Lots of insects, the don't serve beer. Nothing. the hotel did not sell alcohol.the price of tours were more than the tour companies in the area. Nothing. One must use the repellent - the small moscitos bites last long. No tv or frig or wifi or coffee tea making in rooms. Location in some respects is lovely, beacuse of the setting. But there is a 2 minute walk along the main rd to get to the path down to the beach (further 6 mins) and the main rd is a loud, dirty, hair-raising walk that feels much longer! I had a traditional Ayurvedic massage and didn't feel it was great value for money. There was an overflow pipe in our shower that would drip all night, which meant we had to wear earplugs. The staff didn't gave us a feeling that we were welcome. They have more attention for themeselfs and are not experienced with tourists. We didn't enjoy the breakfast covered with flies and from a dirty kitchen. They don't sell alcohol. We also had cockroaches in the bathroom. The place has so much potential, they need good management. No wifi in the room. The place smelled a little musty. The exchange rate of us $ was quite high $1.35 for nz $ which made it quite expensive. The towels were of low quality and she pressure in the shower was very low.there were no decent bath mats. The breakfast was average compared to other accomodation we have stayedin. Little bit out datet Pay extra for wifi is not really a good 2013 service... Don't pay more then one day visit at galle. It's nice, but one day is enough. We had one of the older rooms which was a little dark and furniture was shabby. More soft seating around the pool/bar would be nice. Had to wait an awful long time for food in the evening which when it arrived was not great. They do need to address this since other than that Staff could not do enough for you. *shower rooms are not clean enough. they need to be tiled *they do not sell alcohol.
