We stayed as a family of 4 at the Montes Pension Boutique as a city break to Santiago in July. The location is perfect, just around the corner from the cathedral and main square. Staff extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The rooms are spotless, airy and bright with wonderful views from the balcony onto the square. We will return- if you are looking for a value for money this is a great choice. A superb hotel in a central location.

Sound-proofed rooms--which i had no idea would be so important...and i still don't know how they do it! Tiny terrace with a great view and fresh air. Spotlessly clean-with great bed linens. I booked the Montes Pensión Boutique as a reward to myself for completing the Camino Finisterra. Its proximity to the Cathederal second to none. Everything about it exceeded my expectations including the breakfast which included fresh squeezed oranges for only 3.50! Certainly recommend. The photos were from my room!!. Hotel was just as pictured, hip and modern with touches of the medieval building throughout, spotless, nice staff, great little restaurant on ground floor! Fantastic location one block from Cathedral...unbelievable!!!. Great location, only yards from the cathedral. Remember no vehicles except taxis allowed in the old city, so you have to park in one of the outer car parks and walk to the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and made the stay enjoyable. Montes is very well located and close to all the things in and around santiago. The view from our room overlooking the square was the best. The location is superior, right where you wan to be for restaurants. The square can be noisy at night but we discounted this due to the marvellous location. not realizing that they were on (like most ALL "old town" venues) a pedestrian only street. it was an easy walk for me, but not for everyone--especially depending on luggage situation. Not air conditioned, even though staff said it was...but usually not as hot as when we were there... Hotel is one block from Cathedral and is in a very noisy location, but any hotel right in the middle of the beautiful old city would have same problem... The noise from the square next door on some nights made it difficult to get to sleep. That we couldn't stay longer!!. Room was on the expensive side. The prime location near the Cathedral comes with the penalty of transporting your luggage from outside the vehicle exclusion zone to the hotel. think that online mention or explanation would help as a warning. I would however still stay in this hotel as location and facility are worth the hassle. A little bit of noisef rom the square below but you get used to this quickly. It was very hot 39C! Unfortunately the aircon was not working in the room. As it was lively in the street outside it was uncomfortable with the windows closed. Had to ask for heating to be switched on centrally so we could use radiator in room. Staff said it was air conditioned, but the air conditioners in our 3 rooms did not work and it was quite warm in Santiago. Most of the time this would not be a problem, as weather is usually cooler. Also, quite noisy, but that is the downside of being in the old city, which is charming!. Breakfast. For the facilities available and the size of the room, it was quite expensive, but I guess you pay for the location. Breakfast was extra to the room charge, which made it even more expensive!.
