Everything. Have been staying here for over 24 years. I have always had a pleasant stay. The staff is always the same and they, of course, know me by now and have seen me come with my child since he was born (is now 12 years old). The staff is helpful and professional. The Hostal Lisboa is in a most central location and besides the staff and budget friendly price, the location is unbeatable. Right by Plaza de Santa Ana, the museum triangle, the Cortes, monuments, walkable to Puerta del Sol, Cir.
all reviews » We cannot fault this little gem in the heart of the Spanish capital. I defy you to find better-located accommodation anywhere else in Madrid! A 5-min.walk from Plaza Cibeles (2nd stop on the Airport Transfer), 5 min from metro stops Sevilla and Antoni Martin. Surrounded by great tapas bars, cosy restaurants, breakfast bars and a corner shop directly opposite. Plaza Santa Ana is around the corner and major attractions like Parque Buen Retiro, El Prado or La Reine Sofia are all within 5-10 min st. I have stayed at this hotel annually for the past 11 years. We first chose it because it was one of few that would accept dogs. We have stayed on because we are so fond of it. It was always clean but very shabby at the beginning. We have watched them improve it year by year. It is not a luxury hotel and has no amenities beyond comfortable, simple bedrooms and well-maintained bathrooms. But it is super-kindly and super-central. If you don't mind lack of glitz, it will be perfect for you. This hotel was an excellent choice, for it's centralized location and proximity to museums and restaurants, it's cleanliness and the friendly staff. I do not speak much Spanish and appreciated the effort made by them to point me in the right direction when asked about a particular site to visit. I would recommend this hotel to others looking for a safe, affordable stay in Madrid!. Friendly staff, brilliant location - very close to the Puerta del Sol and all main attractions are within walking distance. Metro stations are five minutes' walk away and it takes all in all about 40 minutes to get to the airport. The hotel is quiet and very clean - rooms are cleaned everyday. Free wifi in rooms with very good connection. Great value for money. The owners and staff are fabulous. Very welcoming. The location could not be better for getting to nearly every central attraction in the heart of Madrid. Wifi is great. It is a simple place, but it has just about everything you might need. This was my third stay in this hotel and as always everything was just perfect: helpful and friendly staff, a clean and comfortable room with air conditioning, the hotel is walking distance to all main sights.It is great value for money. When I come to Madrid next time, I will defenitely stay here again. Excellent value for money with big ensuite clean bed- and bathrooms with real sheets and blankets (not duvets, thank heaven) and no (quite unnecesary)luxuries like kettles and breakfast. That is my ONLY complaint and it isn't very important. Due to the balcony in my room, I found the street below noisy at night and will ask for an interior-facing room the next time. The street noise at night can sometimes be annoying, but you can close the shutters and make it quieter. Everything was great!. Nothing. Scent of tobacco smoke in the room (despite prohibition sign). There was nothing I did not like. parking is expensive in that location (30 euros per day or 65 per 3 days), no kitchen whatsoever nor appliances, kind of old building, hard access to the hotel. The street noise was a bit much, made it hard to sleep. noisy at night. What the hell have the rooms's entrance doors to be so often locked and to have to fight with one big stuff then to go in... No smoking laws are now in effect for restaurants so everyone parties out on the corners until 4 am and our window was right above. One of the night shift staffs , a bald guy, was trying to charge me extra for my visiting friend who was only in room for one hour. Eventually he gave up arguing with me with his poor English. Noise from other guests. Owners friendly but spoke only Spanish. Relatively clean but old room in gaudy colours. Large but impractical bathroom.
