Hotel is perfectly located - within walking distance to all sights and shopping - plenty of restaurants, shops on the door step- hotel staff so friendly and could not do enough for us - Tour bus stops accross the road - Metro few feet away rooms really comfortable - stayed here before - definately return and can not recommend this hotel highly enough - oh and fantastic chinese restaurant accross...

Beware: some rooms facing Gran Via which means it's pretty noisy by night, well personally I didn't mind at all, afterall Gran Via is a main street of Madrid so you shoud expect noise, horns and sirens. So either do not stay at Gran Via or order other room if possible.I think the price they charge for breakfast is exessive. 18 Euros = approx. $30. Found that not only at this hotel but at all of them. WiFi access was charged without my agreement or approval. This expensive charge was removed but take care to check your billl before departure!. Breakfast not special. Staff were pleasant but not attentive, for example, distracted by other things and on the phone during my check-in and check-out. Rooms are very dated. Requested a double and got twin beds.room less spacious and more basic than photographs on website suggest. The staff at the pool bar were miserable and the drinks were very expensive.The roof top pool, which is what attracted us to book this hotel, was exceptionally cold even though the weather was hot during our stay. Other guests also complained about this; the pool was almost always empty demonstrating that guests weren't happy. 2 other hotels on this holiday in Seville and Granada, both had unheated roof top pools but were very pleasent not iced like at Emperador. Noise disturbance, no tea/coffee facilities in room, pool too cold, gymsmall/verybasic. The room was rather dark and the breakfast, mini-bar, roof-top bar over-priced. Two things I didn't like about the hotel; first one was the room wasextremely noisy being located facing the main road and the window didnot block the noise.All night long all I was hearing sirens of policecars and ambulances which was nerve recking. The second thing I didn'tlike about the hotel was the limitation of English channels on tv; onlycnn and sky News.Prices of drinks a bit high. room view. Noisy the morning. the food was terrible. No view from room, which was requested. perhaps the wecome and did not find the staff very friendly. on a smoking floor wanted no smoking. Only 1 pillow, had to ask for another. Quality of food at poolside poor. our room wasn't ready when we arrived, they said they would tell us when it was ready and they didn't and we then had to go and collect our bags from reception ourselves. In addition, there was a problem with our room key and it seemed to take an unneccessarily long time for them to resolve it. Otherwise, the staff were extremely helpful. they out me in a room with twin beds to begin with and had to ask to be moved, but they could not move me the first night. also the aircon is not very effective. Room was dated, a little grubby for four star standard. Carpet and antique furniture. Double bed consisted of two single mattresses pushed together.I was not given internet facilities and assistance for 3 days and had to change hotel. Innaceptable.They do not even have an iron in the hotel. Renovation work was being carried out on the same floor vis a vis my room. The room. Not all reception staff were helpful.
