This was my second stay at the hotel this year and the hotel provides everything I need. Good price compared to UK travelodges, Good Location, Good Transport links, clean rooms, which are good size even for 3 adults sharing, the breakfast was good and the bar menu was also good for snacks. The hotel is situated in a really nice area and much better then being in a central location like le rambler in my opinion. We arrived at the hotel very early and had the option to either have the room early .
all reviews » Staff were lovely always very helpful. Hotel is a in walk from the llacuna metro stop and it's about 10mins into las ramblas! The area itself is lovely right on la rambla poblenou which is full of bars and restaurants and leads down to the sea front from there it's a stroll to the Olympic port which has more bar clubs and restaurants we loved our stay and the location. Also about a 20min walk to the diagonal shopping center and the barcelona tourist bus stops nearby. Great location and cheap pe. Location was better than expected as although area has building work, rambla poblenou is lovely with bars, eateries and shops. 10 minute walk to good clean beach again with bars. Staff were friendly and always tried to help. Bedrooms very clean. Good access to bus and metro routes. The number 36 bus takes you from hotel to the bottom of la Rambla. We like walking so walked everywhere - it takes 30 minutes to walk to the parc de la ciutadella, an hour to the sagrada familia. A great way to . The location is great, the hotel is near La Rambla del Poble Nou and is very close to the Bogatell beach. In front of the hotel is the bus station. With the bus 141 you can easily get to the city center, in Placa Catalunya, and with 36 you can get near the statue of Cristofor Columb and La Rambla. The hotel and the rooms are very clean. The towels and the bedsheets were changed every day. The metro station LLacuna is very close and this is a plus, We liked everything! Good value for money!. The hotel was comfortable and clean with a good selection of food and drink beverages available and at a reasonable price. The staff excelled, especially Juana, the hotel assistant manager. We had an unfortunate theft incident on our first morning at breakfast, but Juana and her team were superb and went beyond what would be reasonable to expect, to support and help us through a very difficult and emotional few days. We will definitely return to stay in the future. Although not in the city centre (there is a Metro Stop within five minutes walk), there were plenty of places to eat locally and an excellent bar selling great beers from Catalonia and from all over the world, including the US and the UK. Only disadvantage, although it opened at 9am ish, it closed at 9.30pm (10.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays). Nevertheless a must visit for beer lovers even if you are not staying at this hotel, the best bar we found in Barcelona. Location is good - Metro station is 5 minutes by walk, local Rambla is also very close to the hotel (many places to have lunch). 30 minutes by walk to Sagrada Familia. Beach is about 10-15 minutes by walk. Staff is nice and try to help everything you need. Room was small, but enough to sleep and to have rest after day. Breakfast is full and tasty - absolutely normal for such type of hotels (7,5 euro per person). Rooms clean, basic as you would expect for the money.Staff extremely helpful and informative. Very relaxes atmosphere and only one street away from the main strip of Poblenou. The Tourist bus stop not far away on the sea front, definitely a must to go on these open top buses to fit everything in, but start early if you do the tourist bus as you have access to all 3 routes on the same ticket. Very good quality-price. The hotel is well located in a pleasant area with lots of terraces in the evening, and not too far from the city centre. You can walk or take the metro that is nearby. A selection of excellent authentic restaurants is located in an area 2 blocks away- perfect for those not wanting to travel back into the city in the evening. Hotel was basic but very clean and well maintained. The small underground car park (chargeable) was useful as we stayed in Barcelona for the start of our holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were able to store our luggage after checking out as our flight did not leave until late. Double glazing totally soundproof. Only four stops on metro to centre of Barcelona and five minute walk to metro station. Immediate surroundings a little scruffy but closeness of beach and the Poblenou Rambla made up for this. Staff were very friendly and helpful, towels were changed every day, room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel, food and drink was pretty cheap and was nice, hotel is only 5 mins away from the metro stations where you can get to the centre etc easily. Also the hotel is only a short walk from the many beaches at Poblenou (including gay and nudist beaches!!). - Location is good: Bus station in a front of the hotel, Metro station - walking 5 minutes. - Very friendly staff, ready with any information you need to know. - The room is not too big but is clean, simple, good. (you don't need a big room if you want to visit and not spend all day in the room!) - We like to walk/visit not spend all day in the Hotel room. The rooms were obviously very new, everything was clean and tidy. The bar was open at all times (I think 24hrs), and the staff were happy to chat. The location was perfect, with lots of places to eat and drink nearby very cheaply. Taxi drivers seem to have no idea where it is though, so try and remember the street name or write it down. The hotel was quite cheap and to be honest I didn't expect much. And I got pleasantly surprised. It's not the luxurious hotel, of course, but it's nice, decent, very very clean, the beds were very comfortable as well as the room, the staff was very polite. In a very good location, 5 minutes to the beach with lot of facilities around, just 3 metro stop from Barceloneta, 4 to cathedral, 5 to casa Batlo', for 44 euro were a perfect deal. It is also very near the Poblenou Rambla which we love as it has lots of cafes and restaurants. The beach and promenade are only 10 minutes walk away. It's a Travelodge, but don't let that put you off. You get what you expect from the chain but with a little extra style. Rooms were standard, food was good for evening meals and breakfast. Easy to reach with public transport and the beach is near to the hotel. In the walking street of Poblenou you can find a lot of reastaurants and some supermarket too. Good close location to the metro stop and a short walk to the beach. Comfortable bed with lovely pillows and good size douvet. Space in the room/floor to put your suitcases. Big mirror in the bathroom. The manager in this hotel is involved! You see him everywhere dealing with clients, solving problems, checking on everything. He is wearing out the soles of his shoes more than the seat of his pants. Staff were really friendly and helpful, price of food was pretty decent. Very good location: Just 5 blocks from the beach, One block away from georgeous "Rambla del Poblenou" and Three blocks from metro. Modern, clean and comfortable facilities. Reasonable price. The hotel is new and situated next to the Rambla Poblenou, which I found very charming and also leads to the beach. The rooms are very clean. All in all it has an excellent price-quality ratio. very convenient for the Poblenou area (yellow line on metro) own identity and very Spanish two stations at hand and such things as bike hire easily and cheaply nearby An up and coming area. Just 2 blocks away from the metro station and also quite close to the beach. The staff are nice and helpful when we had problem with the room. I also highly recommend the buffet breakfast. very close to most amenities metro was 3 minutes away and got us to the city centre very quickly and for next to nothing pricewise. the olimpic port had very fine restaraunts ,great food. During our stay the hotel was maintaned in a pleasant appearence. It impressed with a good service organization as well. We liked the quality and variety of the proposed breakfast. quiet and pleasant area to stay with cheap easy access to the city. Can walk along the esplanade into the city. Pobleneu has a nice ramblas with various options for food/drink. Good location: 25mins to airport, on site parking. 5 minutes from beach, 2 mins from nice boulevard full of shops and restaurants. Good modern room and Good breakfast. this is a personal preference but the shower wasn't strong enough for me but it did the job. My only slight criticism was that at breakfast the hot food wasn't replaced quickly enough once it had run out. In the room the window didn't open so it was very stuffy and the room itself is very small! Went to the bar the first night for food as we arrived in the evening and the only thing they had was pasta with tomato sauce so we got that but mine was stone cold on the inside wouldn't eat in the hotel and the wifi is only available in the reception. Bedroom windows are restricted so room hot but this was resolved. Bedrooms a bit basic (no kettle or hairdryer). A washroom would be nice for guests whose flights are late evening as check out is at 12. There is nothing really not to like for a budget hotel. it was not possible to open the window (the windows are locked for security reasons). The Hotel security should be improved. Some basic, unobtrusive and cost effective additions will reduce the potential for a recurrence of our experience. For example: Provide hotel room safe's for rental and make some basic guides available to guests - For the protection of personal belongings whilst staying in the hotel and travelling in Barcelona. Consideration should be given to minimise the potential for access to the hotel by anyone other than guests or staff. The breakfast (not included in our package) was not good value for money - one block north there are plenty of places to get breakfast. There was no soap for hand wash in the bathroom, but it is just very small issue. Internet is only in the lobby - sometimes it is difficult to use it if you need only to see the routes, but again it is not so hard to go downstairs. A drainy smellnear the hotel, but there did appear to be a lot of renovation work near the offending aroma!!. Wifi free of charge only in the lobby, not in the rooms. Needed a safety deposit box in room. Check in seemed to take forever, only given one key for each room which caused major problems after one very drunken evening!. - Internet! Please fix this issue! They have free WiFi in lobby but the signal is very bad!Sometimes waiting a lot to see the network WiFi - Some strange name... They should brand their ssid not the default router name... It took a while to check in, but the staff were very friendly and apologetic so it wasn't an issue. Nothing, honestly. Everything was perfect. The only issue we had was that there wasn't a kettle in the room to make a drink in the morning! Also no bath in the room we had which wasn't too much of an issue with us but would have been nice!. A chest of drawers please! There was not enough surface area to put things on, and I was too short to reach the top shelf of the hanging space.... The table got rather over-crowded with maps etc and with no drawers to unpack the case, I found having to bend down onto the floor to get things out of my case difficult. I had a good view of the building site (!) - not a problem for me, as I was not spending time in my room. You cannot check in until after 3pm consequently there is a huge queue at that time. The check in also takes far too long (over 20 mins. each). We arrived at 2pm but didn't get through the check in process until after 4.30 which is ridiculous. It definately needs addressing. Also, forget about the cooked breakfast. The cereals, bread, pastries and fruit are fine but no one likes powdered egg, half cooked bacon and pieces of frankfurter sausage (which was evident but the leftovers). - Free wi-fi doesn't work in the room, only in the lobby. - It is located not very close to the beach (15 min. walking). Petty I know but it woudl have been nice to have an English speaking channel on the TV other than BBC Worldwide News or CNN. The room service could be better. you have to ask for the liquid soap many times and it is not enough. Manager was a little grumpy compared to the rest of the staff. Nothing wrong with this hotel. The wifi has low range on flours and in the lobby Also I'm not sure who charges for wifi these days in hotels but it should be free. didn't have kettle or hairdryer in room - however when we asked they were available for a deposit. Only complaint was that the wifi access was really poor and you had to sit in the hotel lobby to access it. It is advertised as free wifi. But if you are in your room you need to pay. Otherwise great. What I didn't like about the hotel are just small aspects that could be easily fixed: - Internet is not free in the room, only in the lounge area!!! - Breakfast is not included in the price of the room. - No rug in the bathroom for you to step on after shower. Reception was often very crowded with people waiting to check in. The terrace area could have been much cleaner. The floor was never washed or hosed in the 4 days we stayed there and the tables weren't always as clean as they could be. One little nit-picking thing - they ran out of butter one morning and on another they had none at all!. Not a dislike, just something that needs addressing. Staff were giving different answers to same questions. Nothing serious but one said parking could be paid for at reception by credit card while another insisted it was cash only at the barrier. No room safe. Bedsheet were the same , only towels were changed. Only thing we did not like that the window can not be opened. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Cold shower some days. Only one chair in the bedroom and NO place for luggage except on the floor. The shampoo and soap packets---it gets in your mouth when you open them!. No complaints. No refrigerator, no wifi, window looks at some dense metal frameworks and cannot be opened (there is good built-in balanced ventilation though). Cleaning starts very early (before 9 am) and is too loud. Put "do not disturb" badge on the door if don't plan to meet the maid suddenly while you are lying naked. You have to pay for wi-fi in your room. In year 2013? Not acceptable. There is a building site right next to the hotel so there wasn't a very good view. The checkin starts at 3PM and seemed inflexible, meaning no early checkin. Of course this lead to a queue. Anyway these aspects were insignificant. Barcelona is way to beautiful to spend all of your day in a hotel room and Travelodge offered just what we needed: a basic comfort. Arrived late at night and was concerned about slightly run down area by metro no need - false alarm. a bit noisy with banging doors late at night. On check-in at the hotel we waited a long time until our booked room was found due to overload or breakdown of the hotel computer system. No free wireless.
