The Catalonia Avinyo's staff called us a day ahead, informing that Catalonia Avinyo was fully booked so we were changed to another hotel in the same network called "Catalonia Port" and I really recommend this hotel!! Very new, very clean, very comfortable!! and it's near the port and Columbus Monument. That's mean you can start walking from the beginning of La Rambla!! and it's near the metro..
all reviews » What a gem! Catalonia Avinyo is a great place to stay while in Barcelona. The modern decor make it very comfortable and chic. Also, it has an excellent location. Very near everything. If you are a first time tourist or a frequent visitor you will be satisfied with this hotel. An added bonus is the restaurante across from the hotel El Gran, it is wonderful!. staff were lovely and helpful, had a pool and jacuzzi on the roof which was great. every thing was clean, you even got fresh towels for the sun loungers on the roof. Hotel has a great location, and is very nice in general. Staff was very friendly.the location in the city and the comfort in general. The hotel was very close to the Las Ramblas and the medieval area is very interesting. also it had a supermarket just in front and a reastaurant too. The only thing i can complain about is that the room became quiet cold during the night....this spoiled things for me slightly....i woke 3 or 4 times with the cold...maybe it was just the room i was in ?. my big problem was with my hotel room , and it was a big problem 4 me , is that the room had NO WINDOW........!!!!!!!!! i,ve never been or stayed in a room with no window and i didnt sleep much during my stay. very stuffy , no air in room. i would stay in the hotel again and i would recommend it but i would INSIST on a room with a window.The room was a bit small. Hard beds. But no really problem. The room was small. may be too enthusiastic (offensive) room-cleaning. The size of the pool. more local info.. I had a room without a window to the outside.The bathroom items (shampoo, etc) were not so great, also the cleanliness of the room during our stay could have been better. no window to the outside in the room, the lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom was causing some problems. The surrondings has a stile that in my opinion makes the hotel "colder" then it needs to be. Environmently friendly stile with energy saving systems was very positive. Rooftop Jacuzzi should've been open later!!!. Breakfast is somewhat overpriced considering value for money. Lack of soundproofing in the rooms.
