Prices were really good to stay there...breakfast included in the rate, and tea and cake in the afternoon. Lovely spacious bedroom with a magnificent view of Table Mountain. Central. Bar and restuarant staff were friendly and an absolute pleasure to talk to. Great location on Long Street which placed us very central. Excellent bedroom, very clean and well stocked with tea,coffee, etc, and views of Table Mountain. Allowed to leave luggage on last day in the hotel, even though we had checked out.
all reviews » The hotel is very central and in walking distance to most sight seeing spots,bars and restaurants. The staff is friendly and well educated. Numerous pamphlets and maps in the lobby also assist with planning day trips and events. The hotel was so comfortable and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were definitely value for money, everything was comfortable. Within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. Fantastic getaway walking distance to everywhere you want to be in city centre. We went down to Cpt Gardens and museums all walking distance. Breakfast at the chic was fantastic. We had a lovely stay. Loved the design of the room. Bath in the room behind a big slider was awesome. Could watch tv from the bath. Room service no extra charge. Draught beer in bar. Breakfast was seriously tasty. Urban was an amazing experience . It was clean well looked afer very friendly staff and top notch facilities! Had to keep repeating order, etc. (Probably a one off, everyone else was fine). There was a horrible, permanent sewerage smell on the 6th floor. The breakfast at the restaurant didn't serve the meals as indicated on the menu. We weren't offered the 2 slices of toast that was supposed to come with the meal on both breakfast occasions. Long street is also noisy late at night and this noise from the bars in the street and police sirens carry on till 4am in the morning. Very noisy on Fridays and Saturdays due to nightclubs outside. This place is in the middle of long street and there is noise from the outside. We were on the 5th floor and could still hear street noise. Luckily we are heavy sleepers so this did not affect us as much. Would highly recommend this hotel. There wasn't anything I could fault them on. There is only one big drawback: the noise from the plethora of pubs of Long Street. Be prepared to come with ear plugs. The hotel is excellent and recommendable provided you don't care about the noise. It is located in a pub area. I was there Fri and Sat nights and the noise from the street was loud. My earplugs were essential. Noisy at night but that's to be expected as its on Long street!. It is very central which is great but be prepared to take earplugs! The bars across the road are open till 3, and at 5am there is still lots of people shouting/horns blarring, wouldn't notice it as much if the room had double glazing or if you were at the back of the hotel. The noise at night, but this is expected of the location. I stayed on a Sunday night and the music from the nearby bars and clubs was still going strong at 3am. The breakfast was poorly prepared; shortage of staff; the fact that the eatery only caters for breakfast and not any other meals. Although I had secure parking it was not easy getting in and out without my own remote control for the parking gate. Ran out of toilet paper Didn't re-stock the soaps, etc Noisy street Aircon made room too cold, and couldn't open the windows because of the noise from the street. If you don't like noise then try somewhere else especially on the weekend...loud music and mayhem till the wee hours of the morning.......if you can't beat em...join em!!. Somewhat noisy late at night. The windows could be a little more sound proof. Could improve on breakfast. Only comment is the toilet was not clean when I got to my room. it was very noisy on the weekends, but we knew it would be. long street and the noise of long street on a saturday evening. The hotel is in a very busy area of Long street and the clubs don't close till sunrise, therefore very little sleep had. no access fro parking area. The noise, but if we closed our windows, then it was ok. materials including cleaning cart stored in the stairwell and back hallways. The noise from the bar across the street is incredibly high at nights. the noise from the street gets into your room. noise levels from the club (space bar) was overwhelming the whole night. Even though its a smoke free hotel, the smoke smell was quite bad. holiday was 2 short.... The pubs all around the hotel in Long Street make the place so crowded & noisy on the weekends. there was no soap in the bathroom. no bars of soap. the noise from the clubs. Noise of Long str. With virtually zero sound proofing the noise, as mentioned in other reviews was loud long into the night. The restaurant and bar were closed due to some dispute with, I think, a franchisee, breakfast was still available but two blocks down the road. The recption was too small,the bar too... The noise from the street bars and clubs was unbearable and we could not sleep!!!! they gave us earplugs but it did not help!!! sad because the hotel itself is lovely! I also phoned the hotel and spoke to Siramm and she said she would put us in the Pepper street room but when we got there no one knew who Siramm was or about the request! also the smoke smell as you enter the hotel at the reception is terrible!. - A bit Noisy at night sometimes - Bar not open on sundays - They could include a mini bar in the room rate. The staff has no idea what good service is and they definitely don't give 4 star service. The restaurant ran out of basics even though they weren't particularly busy and the night staff specifically were very unhelpful when we requested milk for the room as housekeeping didn't replenish the milk used the day before. There were also not enough parking in the parking garage the last night of our stay.
