Not an ultramodern hotel but rather a well maintained hotel with a more genteel feel. The rooms were nicely sized, comfortable bed and kept spotless by the staff. The rooms were well soundproofed so you had no extraneous noise from other rooms. The restaurant was pleasant and the food well above average. As others have noted, the breakfast really sets you up for the day. The hotel is quite well placed in a slightly quieter part of town next to the parliament buildings but only a 10 minute strol.
all reviews » Staff eager to help us as we arrived early were leaving late and had to leave luggage at hotel. We were upgraded to double rooms with views of Table Top. A cheap taxi ride or walk from all the major city sites. Excellent breakfast included. Rooms spacious with all facilities. Compared with our hotel in Rio on the same trip and for the same price Townhouse was streets ahead. Can't wait to go back to Cape Town and when I do there's only one place I'll be staying - The Townhouse. Staff really friendly and flexible. Late check out to fit in with my plans for the delay at no extra cost, safe place to keep luggage. Restaurant food good and very generous glass of wine. Centrally placed - 5 minutes walk to parliament walk and botanical gardens. Staff on hand to offer advice and directions. Room functional but had all I needed. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Checked in early but soon given a room. Great food in restaurant for dinner and breakfast - excellent value for money. My renovated bathroom was very up-to-the minute. I also liked the area as not far to walk to Company Gardens and other sights. The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the centre of the Cape Town CBD and shopping areas. A significant amount of renovation still going on so noise is audible during the day but I was forwarned of this so not too much of an issue.Some dust/mess in the corridor. My duvet was too hot for me (maybe not for others) and the coffee was not always very hot at breakfast. If arriving by car, the parking is in an adjacent multi-storey car park. The hotel allocated parking is on a high floor which was not very convienent. Nothing comes to mind. Had a good stay. The service in the restaurant is a little chaotic and slow. difficult to find the hotel at first. Sometimes cannot always access staff when needed - seem to be doubled up with demands of hotel work. Having to pay for secure parking. No free shuttle to V&A or nearby hotspots. The location as it is not central from the tourist perspective. This is a conference center hotel. Right across from police station, near government buildings. renovations and the noise. Wir eless intermittent. They have refurbished the bathrooms, a job that was finished in october, so take down all those posters telling that in late november - its just tacky .. Liked food but second experience not so great. Perhaps less choises but changes. The extraction fan in the bathroom made a continuous loud noise. The staff could have been more helpful. I felt there was some relutance in serving me...the cheerfulness for hosting a guest was definately not there. They can also be more detailed in cleanliness in the room. Renovations. house keepi ng in the rooms I dont think the sheets were changed during our entire stay. Can't think of anyting to complain about!. Nothing in particular. housekeeping was not on top of their game, did not refill coffee, was not cleaning bathroom daily. Bugs in the bathroom. Small cockroaches. Hated not being able to find the bathroom lightswitches. Bedside table lamp was rubbish and kept falling over. A bit away from the V&A Waterfront was a bit difficult as a courtesy bus would be a major advantage as we have experienced in the past. You have to park from level m upwards meaning a long circuitous route for access or egress. Renovations are being undertaken with no prior warning. One lift was sealed off for contractors leaving only one lift to service the rest of the hotel. When advertising you should indicate there is a charge for parking. At a 4-star hotel one would expect a choice of bacon. The streaky bacon (only option and not a healthy one) was undercooked and overly fatty.
