The most wonderful welcome to an amazing city. The pension is right in the citadel and is the perfect start to see all the important sites. The hotel room felt warm, cosy and unique. Great attention to detail was paid wherever I went. The breakfast was like nothing I'd experienced before - a smorgasbord of different local produce fit for a medieval king. In the end I had to try almost everything and it tasted great.
I arrived at night, climbing the icy steps to the citadel (probably nicer in th. all reviews »
This is a gem of a pension built into the old fortified walls of
Sighisoara. The owner surpassed himself in terms of hospitality. Full
of good advice about what to see in the area, and on where the best
places to eat were. We followed his advice and had dinner at
Ferdinand's down the steps below the clock tower rather than in the
old village itself where prices were a lot higher and geared to the
tourist market. Excellent meal for two and four beers for under £17.
Breakfast at the pension was v.
What can I add to all the praise that has been give already, but to confirm that it is all true and more.
The two nights we stayed in room number 6 on the first floor I think, was full of character with the bed on a raised platform to which you climbed up log steps. This may not be easy if you lack agility, and the bed is not a full double, if you need space, but we found the whole experience fun and delightful.
Sorin the host was very helpful recommending restaurants and the best route for ou.
A really authentic place! You stay at a hotel that is a really medieval house with very old wooden furniture but definitely with modern conveniences. Our double room was quite small, but we expected it and had nothing against as we stayed for just one night and wanted this experience. We were fully rewarded. Everything was perfect, just what we had expected: a hospitable and helpful host, his ancient house and its location, the room, the wooden authentic furniture, the plentiful organic f.
The cost is extremely reasonable and the owner is a great host. Located
in the heart of old town sighisoara, the pension is in a beautifully
maintained old building. The inside has all modern conveniences but with
traditional Romanian and Saxon interior. Breakfast is in the historic
cellar which has been beautifully restored and is very charming. There
is a wide array of traditional Romanian and international breakfast
foods, including home made jams and several different kinds of honey.
Just a.
Almost everything. We were lodged in the widest room, at the ground floor. Furniture is great looking, mattress is okay, comfortable feather filled pillows, big bathroom fit with everything you need, great breakfast consisting in only ecologic food from local production. The owner was more than kind, offering not only to us, but to anyone else full support, no matter the issue was. He gave us valuable and useful information about places to see, where to have the best lunch and/or dinner around.
As said in most of the reviews the best thing about the hotel is the owner Sorin who personally takes care of everything. He is the best and most caring hotel owner I have ever seen. We were there to attend a wedding, he got our clothes ironed complimentary. He helped us map the route to the wedding location. He was awesome in every sense of the word. The hotel is an old building restored to very good standards. The breakfast is very interesting. I don't think there is a better hotel in Sighişo.
I've never been so charmed by a place to stay (hotel, hostel, pension, B&B or whatever) in my entire life as much as this place. Superb location, fairytale medieval setting, great rustic ambience, and Sorin, the owner, just a pure delight and epitomy of a great host. Home-made organic breakfast, beautifully decorated interior, and a great - if not the best - place to stay in Sighisoara. I truly hope to be able to stay here again in the future!.
The location was awesome, part of the old fortifications - great for a history fan. Close to all the sights. The house is great, neat and clean with a medieval flair. Big and great variety for breakfast. The staff is wonderful and helpful, with loads of recommendations not only for the town but for all the surroundings as well. Really loved the gift received at checkout, a branded tea cup. I would recommend this location to anyone!.
Staying here was a special experience for a number of reasons. First the owner was so hospitable giving us wine and special fruit drinks and sharing the impressive story of how he had restored the building. Staying in such an historic building was also a special experience and the breakfast so carefully prepared with fresh cheeses etc from the market added yet another dimension making the whole experience such a memorable one.
Superb location. The owner is very kind and helpful - and he gave a lot of information about the town, restaurants and sightseens nearby. The rooms are quite small, but very cosy and romantic. The breakfast was very good and all food seems to be organic and of course - only local.
If you come by car, you must park your car outside of the old town but there is only few minutes walk to this place.
All-in-all : Excellent place!.
I just can repeat the several positive comments before me. Very stylish, cosy and clean hotel. Everything is coming from the heart. Wonderful breakfast with local, organic products! The words friendly and helpful do not describe well enough the owner of the hotel. Thanks for the unforgettable and fantastic evening with your home-made sour cherry liquor:-) Definately will stay here next time!.
Soeren, the owner is a wonderful host, he went out of his way to mae our stay a memorable one. The hotel is absolutely charming. The rooms are small but lovely, and staying right on the old town wall really adds a special feel to the visit to Sighisoara. Bed was comfortable, wifi worked, breakfast was nice. Was our best hotel on our trip to Romania. All around thumbs up.
Ideally situated hotel in the centre of the old town Sighisoara. We had a junior suite which was absolutely beautiful, with age related furniture, and spacious room. Our host was extremely helpful, providing maps and information, and very welcoming. Best selection of locally sourced and homemade breakfast we had in the whole 2 weeks we spent in Romania.
Ideal location in a quiet street, excellent fresh breakfast with plenty of cheese and meat options, nice decoration, friendly staff! The room was smaller than we expected but still very comfortable. The owner gave us the address of several restaurants which proved to be very good and organised a tour for us in the surrounding villages, really appreciated!.
The single room is small but I knew this when I booked so I cannot complain. What makes this place unique in Romania is the service. Itineraries for the surrounding area are suggested and are reasonably priced which is great if you are a carless solo traveller like me. I was also directed to good places to eat at good prices. Great place to stay.
Located just a few minutes by foot from the central square, this pension is a wonderful place to stay. Great breakfasts with smoked meats, jams fresh breads and juices in an atomospheric cellar. Lovely garden to sit. Proprietor really helpful in arranging taxi tour to the fortified churches. Great pension experience.
Excellent place to stay if you want to have the best Sighisoara experience. The host is great, the rooms are wonderful and the breakfast rich and unique.
I would really recommend anybody to stay here, especially because all these world-class facilities are available at such a good price.
This pension was perfectly located, the room was pretty special as part of the old city wall, the breakfast was an incredible organic local produce spread and the host was very friendly and attentive. It was overall a great place to stay and had all the small touches down perfect aswell.
The administrator (Domnul Sorin) was very kind with us, even in the small details. He gave us too many tips for visiting places, a map with different routes, not only for adults, also for our small kid.
We are very pleased and of course we will come back for the medieval carnival!.
The location is excellent. Right in the heart of Sighisoara. The hotel is a historic building very well renovated. The staff was very helpful and sympathic. The breakfast is just excellent with a wide variety of regional products. It was my best stay on my rumanian vacation!.
Wow! A brilliant Pension offering a wonderful experience. From our arrival we were warmly met and welcomed. The Pension has a wonderful ambiance with lovely rooms and a stunning breakfast of some of the best organic produce you can taste. This is a must, as is the location!.
One of the best pensions I ve ever been. Location is perfect just at the entrance of the old town. Breakfast was delicious and traditional . The place is nicely decorated and Sorin the owner is more than friendly and helpful. Highly recommended if you visit Transilvania.
Really great location in the Old City, a stone's throw from all the main sites. The manager was extremely helpful and provided lots of advice on tours, sights and restaurants. We really liked the breakfast, which was relatively simple but tasty. Clean and comfortable.
Excellent hotel in all respects. Carefully and tastefully refurbished and decorated in keeping with the character of the building. Very clean and excellent breakfast with lots of local/ homemade produce.
Hospitality was amazing, friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Absolutely the BEST hospitality i have ever experienced. Consider yourself lucky if you are able to book a few nights in this charming, restored pension. The location is ideal, the price is an exceptional value and the accommodations are outstanding.
The Hotel manager was very helpful in giving us a map of the town and telling us places to visit and what transport to take and places to eat. The breakfast was exceptional. We would definitely recommend this hotel to any one.
5 star service :).
The owner was very hospitable and really went out of his way to make you feel welcomed. The pension is attractively located in part of the old city wall and has been beautifully restored. Breakfast was a great showcase of the local produce.
Very friendly reception. Good and plentiful breakfast. Clean and nicely decorated room, with wifi. Sighisoara has a nice old center with lot's of old houses. Nice cafe's and restaurants around the little park just outside the old gate.
Even though our double room was quite small, it was very pleasant and comfortable. The entire pension is decorated with good taste. Consistend breakfast, with natural products. We liked everything and we would definitely come back.
If every hotel was as good as this no one would stay at home.
The proprietor treats the guest as friends and sees to it that best breakfast possible is served. It is a very friendly and warm atmosphere in a beautiful city.
This is a great, atmospheric pension located right at the gate of the Sighisoara citadel. It's clean, wonderfully decorated, but the best thing is the service. Expect a lot of drinks on the house. Wonderful place!.
I have enjoyed everything about this place. The location is great, breakfast amazing and the owner is a very nice person, gave us very usefull advices about what to visit in Sighisoara and surroundings!.
Definitely the best place we stayed in Romania. Warm welcome, nice room with bathroom, tasty breakfast of home made cheeses and jams in the medieval cellar and we were even given mugs as a souvenir!.
This was an excellent hotel. It had wonderful architecture and interior design and interesting spaces throughout. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing.
The owner is extremly helpful, multi-lingual and friendly. The breakfast is gorgeous, the rooms original and nice, the location a medieval house modernized. It is perfect, all in all.
The first thing you will notice is the cozy atmosphere. The second thing is the hospitality of the owner. The breakfast is a feast for the eyes. Location couldn't be any better.
The person in charge was very friendly and provided great information about the city and the area. The breakfast was excellent. The pension is located in a restored old house.
Very friendly and hard working staff person. Large old suite and huge walk in shower. Nice room overall and great location a minute from main square of old city center.
The excellent welcome and attention of the staff. The tasteful and apt decor. The Fantastic location. The wonderful locally sourced breakfast. It's a wonderful place.
The pension had bags of character and was in an excellent location in the citadel. The owner was charming and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic - all local produce.
Excellent and friendly owner.
Beautiful building in perfect position.
Wonderful breakfast in converted cellar with atmosphere ++
Large comfortable room.
Non smoking.
Wonderful friendly service and helpful information from the owner.
Fantastic organic breakfast.
Lovely old restored building forming part of the city wall.
Location.
Location was great. Price was great. Manager was great. Breakfast was more than great!! I'd stay there again for sure and would recommend to my friends.
Charming B&B, tastefully decorated, clean and very authentic. The breakfast was especially nice, made up of local goodies from around the area.
Great city, great stay, highly recommended. Sorin is an excellent host which really helps getting an authentic experience of this fantastic city.
Everything in the hotel was excellent! The owner was very helpfull!!! So far, it is the best place to stay in Romania - and I travel a lot!!.
Sorin, the owner, was an amazing host. We loved the breakfast, the help with recommendations, the mugs he gave us at the end.
Super charming. Host was very helpful and a great guy. Hotel was right at the citadel so no long walk up the hill to visit.
Great host, very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and excellent location. I will recommend this to other travelers.
Absolutely nothing,,,.
That I had to leave, I would have loved to stay longer.
That we did not stay longer.
My minor gripe is that there were couple of small issues with our room which the owner was aware of but hadn't fixed i.e. the slightly stuck door lock and drainage from the shower. Very minor but this hotel is so close to perfection :).
I have no dislikes regarding my physical experience. When choosing where to stay I also looked up more information on their website and it doesn't do the place justice. The booking platform is great for them in this case, but a bit more attention to their own website or to the pictures they have on booking I think will increase credibility.
The fan available in the bedroom did not work and we got really hot during our first night. Upon request, it was replaced the next morning.
My single room was quite small but it didn't matter to me.
Short time to keep visiting :(.
Nothing at all.
Weird placement of a very small TV ! Not that we would have watched it anyway.
Nothing.
Nothing.....it was absolutely perfect!.
The second floor room in which we stayed, despite a fan, was extremely hot and claustrophobic.
Nothing serious to complain about. Maybe the fact that we were asked to pack and check out at 10.00, while we had planned to use at maximum that last morning and check out at 12.00. But this was a real minor detail.
The single room could be a little more spacious.
The seats were all hardwood stools with no back. OK for a short time then tough on the butt and back.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Room was small, but adequate. When you are living in a castle/fort wall...how much room do you expect anyway!! Parking was a little bit distant, but not a big deal.
Nothing!.
Small but charming room.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.
