What people say
Everything was wonderful. The staff is great, always helping and giving guidance and tips about Bucharest. It is really a boutique of a hostel.. the design is great - a perfect fusion between old & new (the building is a very beautiful 'antique' redesigned with great taste). So, my stay was perfect, much more than i expected from a hostel!
Thank you and see you soon.
I love the kitchen and the fact that the office is technically open 24 hours. I found the beds extremely comfortable and was happy with the wifi. The staff were extradoridinary and even took my bag to my room since it was huge and upstairs. It also great to me people and I liked the location because it was further into the neighborhood but still super close!. all reviews »
Very relaxed atmosphere, nice and helpful staff. Very good location in a nice and quiet neighbourhood surrounded by cafés and restaurants, very close to the bus stop for the airport and a 20min walk from Gara de Nord. Large and clean double room with air conditioning, very good facilities, and a self-serve breakfast on the terrace!.
Umbrella is a realy comfy place to stay in Bucharest. Very well positioned, very close to the subway, in the center of the city and still far from all the whirr. I appreciate its cleanliness and the kindness of the staff. I particularly like the building and the inside garden which has a wall clad entirely in ivy.
The staff, Valentin, Philip and Dan are awesome. They would like to help us with everything. We have stayed there 3 times and everything was perfect. The rooms are cleaned, the breakfast is good and the hostel is relatively close to the old center. Don't fear to ask them for anything you need. We recommend it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and simple
offering great value for money. Free wifi was a plus. We didn't use
kitchen facilities but it was good they were there and seemed clean and
tidy. Front gate has a locking system so we felt safe during our stay.
We liked that the hostel is very clean, has a nice kitchen, you can cook whatever you like, hosts are very supportive with anything you will need, it's central, near metro and all the bus stations. The things they offer for the price were very good and we enjoyed our stay there.
Double room with private bathroom: the bed was comfortable, clean sheets and towels, body wash provided, breakfast was sufficient to start the day, staff were friendly, WiFi strength was good, private bathroom was clean, and the hostel was within walking distance to metro.
Excellent. Near Piazza Porta Romana, in a nice building with wooden floors and antique ceramic stoves. The room with private bathroom is nice, clean and comfortable. Trompe l'oeil are funny in the entire hotel. A comfortable kitchen, a good breakfast.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, the location is good, rooms are very clean and tidy suitable for backpackers as well as family groups, I would definitely recommend anyone to stay in the Umbrella Hostel when visiting Bucharest.
The manager made our room up at 8 in the morning, because we didn't get too much sleep in the night train. The staff is super friendly.
The room was great.
The bathrooms were clean.
The provided breakfast was good.
The WIFI is fast.
Everything about this hostel was great, the guys there were super helpful, knew the city inside out. New, clean, comfortable and warm no matter how cold outside, perfect location, everything you need is nearby too, thanks a lot.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Hostel is super clean, cool design, free breakfast, awesom shower and close to centre. They made great recommendations for further hostels. Great wifi connection. Must stay here.

Definitely this will be my place in Bucharest. Thank you guys.
100 % !!!.
I loved the hostel. It was a pleasure to find such a perfect place: good atmosphere, quite, good equipment, familiar, breakfast included and almost in the center. One of the best hostels I've ever visited.
A 'hostel' but had private rooms.
Very friendly, personable and genuine hosts; family run feel.
Beautiful old building and nicely furnished.
Well located; short walk from historical center.
Breakfast was included and coffee/tea was available all day. The location nearby the metro, train and bus station. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every case.

(Over the last 30 years).

Friendly people, clean and confortable room.
Easy access, very friendly staff!.
Excellent Staff
Perfect Location.
Simply perfect! Mulțumesc! :).
The fact that i did not stay longer! :).
The staircase was incredible small and spiral and I almost killed myself going down it twice. Even though the office is opened 24 hours sometimes a person wouldn't be there so it was slightly annoying. Had to pay for washer and dryer (no big) but they wouldn't let me turn it on until the morning...then not until afternoon, which bugged me. But other than that awesome!.
Our one-night stay was too short!.
The rooms close to the stairs are a little bit noisy during the night when the hostel is full.
Bed was a little hard but it didn't stop us getting a good nights
sleep. Romanian taxi drivers always try and rip off uk tourists
including us.
The spiral stairs to the private room were a little precarious and narrow for walking with backpacks. The hostel was on a street that seemed a bit isolated at night but we had no issues.
Nothing at all.
Nothing we didn't like!.
Nothing , everything is great !.
If you stay in the second floor, the stairs are small and maybe uncomfortable.
if your noise sensitive, bring earplugs, it's a hostel!.
My room was on the 2nd floor, but there was no elevator and only a tiny, winding staircase! For people with big suitcases, children or disabilities, I would advise to request a room downstairs. Fortunately the staff was super friedly and helped me carry my suitcase upstairs.
Beds a little uncomfortable
Plumbing in bathrooms had a bad smell.
We were recommended to go to Sinai by the staff on our way to Brasov, they weren't so clear with transport ticket information saying it was just an extra 3 lei and we nearly got thrown off the train as we took a regional not intercity train. if you decide to do this, know exactly where you want to go the castle is not that easy to find, its not as easy as they let on. well especially since if you don't speak Romanian.
some of the rooms at second floor that close to the stair you can hear noise from the living room down stair because some people seat there late at night and talk .
I stay at the 4 bed room at second floor and no noise problem .
not much different food for breakfast, sadly nothing like fruits, but if you don't stay too long it that's ok
bed was not very comfortable.
Breakfast was a little sparse and coffee sometimes ran out--.
Nothing I can think of.
