The hotel is in a great location, on a popular street in Old San Juan. It's beautifully restored and decorated with a Moroccan flair. There is no elevator, but that just adds to the uniqueness and authenticity of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms, though small were clean and thoughtfully decorated. Staff and owner very friendly and helpful.--Help carry luggage upstairs and downstairs. Owner says that plans are in the works for an elevator. We would stay there again. This hotel has a friendly staff. The room was small but it is an old structure in a colonial city so that's something to consider; but it was comfortable. The decor is gorgeous. If you want to see all the museums and historic places in the Old San Juan and the location of this hotel is perfect. Amazing soaking tubs on the roof, very romantic for a late night soak for two, overlooking the Old San Juan skyline. Also, they were very accommodating to hold our luggage until we boarded the cruise ship - no extra charge. Most of the guests were departing to or returning frok a cruise. The owners are amazing, John will give you any information you need and is very helpful and kind. The room is spacious as well as the bathroom. The garden and the pool are very nice. Walking distance (10 minutes) to several restaurants (that is if you don't mind walking). Exotic lobby, friendly staff, great location, authentic building. Had to carry luggage upstairs and our room was on the 3rd floor. Hotel does not offer shuttle service from airport. Taxis are a little expensive. The water temperarure in the shower would not stay constant and was very finicky. Everything was clean and functional, but some things looked like a hodge podge repair job, There is no elevator! They clearly state this fact on their website, but be advised! We were on the 5th floor, and carrying two large suitcases up 5 winding flights of stairs was not fun. The photos are accurate, just be aware that these are small rooms compared to most modern chain hotels. Breakfast could have offer a broader choice of food. Noisy guests in room next door, (that night staff quickly responded to) No window in room - the building has a traditional atrium which allows for lots of natural light but the room felt closed in at night time. The roof top was cute but needed to clean up every area so you wouldn't see leftover junk trying to be hidden. It was fun to explore the roof except it needs to be really clean.. No elevator. We were on the 5th floor and had lots of heavy luggage. My husband and I are over 60 plus we had other family with a baby and needed to lug all of his extras - stroller, car seat, etc. Our room had no window; thus very dark. Television never worked during three day stay. Hot water available only after complaint and then intermittant. No elevator. We didn"t get the wake-up call we put in for, and they didn't schedule our 6am taxi "the note got lost under a pile of papers on their desk....luckily we set our cell phones for the alarm, and I was up at 5:30 to arrange for the taxi that they forgot. We got to the airport in good time! They were still all very nice about the whole mix-up! And so were we!. Road in front under major construction - no issue with noise but a bit messy - will be done in next month. No elevator - we were okay with that but I know it really compromised some older people. There are plans to install an elevator in the future. no bath mats in the bathroom. I asked for one but my request was overlooked. The room was pretty small, and there was no elevator for luggage, but staff was able to take the bags to the rooms. The breakfast was very poor!!. The rooms are really small. We booked a standard room with a queen and it was tiny. There are minor amenities that are missed, but so minor that it still wouldn't keep me from recommending the Hotel Casablanca. (Pack an alarm clock and a hair dryer). Facing street - noisy on Saturday night A bit too dark in the rooms if you wanted to read. There was no levator and the breakfast was really poor. no parking. A little more attention to detail in the rooms, extra face cloth, shower mat and some floor coverings over the concrete floors would have been appreciated,. No elevator to the 4th floor. Rooms were small no ventillation. Only minor thing - no elevator. We knew that in advance, though. An elevator would be nice. Room small. Our room needed lavatory plumbing repair, entry door latch repair and window latch repair. There is no lift/elevator. They advertised "breakfast included", but all that was included was coffee and bagels. Everything else (even tea and cereal) you have to buy. no elevator. No lift to the accommodation floors and need to carry bags up stairs. Confusion of staff quotes for taxi fares and arrangements. No closet in room, no dresser, not much on TV, bar downstairs never open, no elevator. a) Linen on beds was scruffy/dirty b) Loud odd/creepy music played in lobby. no elevators and carrying luggage 5 flights of stairs. No windows in room. Climbing the stairs Lack of amenities, like no coffee maker, no kleenex, no bar fridge, 1 set of towels for 2 people, no windows, lack of bathroom counter space, poor selection for continental breakfast which reservation said breakfast included for the price we expected bacon & eggs, most of all NO ELEVATOR with 12 ft high ceilings we were on the 3rd floor and it was like climbing 5 floors with heavy luggage.
