I cannot recommend the Artus enough. The Location is directly in the old town center, just off the Long Market, around the corner from the Fontanna Neptuna, next to a police station and an easy 10-12 minute walk from the Gdansk Glowny rail station. The building was very old and beautiful, while the interior was very new, modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, whenever a guest enters the lobby they will rise from their seat to greet you, which was a nice touch. Mon Balzac is .
all reviews » The top place to stay in Gdansk! Location could not be better. Downstairs at the corner brilliant taxi services (Taxi Baltic). Very helpful staff in hotel reception and restaurant. Room service breakfast absolutely luxury with fresh strawberries, good coffee or cappucino, cheeses and - everything! I also had a massage and a sauna and experienced that as Finn I can say: You good not have anything better!. The overall standard of the hotel is excellent . From when you open the door till you leave the staff are very welcoming and friendly are willing to chat and be very helpful . I must say a credit and asset to the hotel is emily at reception . the hotel is ideal for a city break every thing is in easy walking distance . I would highly recommend this hotel. Theres nothing about the hotel i disliked . the only thing i would say is the church accross the road .The bells go in the morning . Good thing is you wont sleep in if you here them . I only heard them the first morning i stayed. The double bed which was created from two singe beds was moving apart at night and that was annoying. As the hotel is advertised as couples friendly it would be good idea to make bed for two people more comfortable e.g. by covering two beds with one sheet; provide one big duvet instead of two separate ones etc. Like all continental hotels only one pillow on each bed - why?. The service in the bar attached to the hotel was poor and the seating area cramped, however saying that there were plenty of alternatives nearby so it wasnt a problem. Breakfast not included in our hotel booking but there was a good cafe close by which provided a good reasonably priced breakfast. The hotel apparently partners with a restaurant/bar on the ground floor of the same building where the self-service buffet breakfast is offered each morning. Unfortunately, the restaurant service at any other time of day ranges from the lackadaisical to the non-existent. What could be a convenient place to drop in at the end of the day is totally off-putting. The asinine restaurant staff is a 180-degree spin from the professional hotel staff. We had been unfortunate as it was Friday and many people were leaving pubs and clubs late and it was difficult to sleep. The sofa bed was a bit too hard. But these are just minor issues and overall I was very pleased with the hotel. Nothing. hearing some noise after midnight from people walking in the street. the bed is small in small room. Extra local tax at check out. Should be included in the hotel price. (The extra tax are very low so the problem was the system - not the value). No ac. Breakfast wasn't for us. At least if everything was shown on the tables. That said, Rest of the food was great. Breakfast, although good, was a bit overpriced compared to what you can buy from local restaurants. Maybe the reception staff could say hello when you arrive back every day. But thats being fussy, overall a good stay. It is quite noisy outside. Nothing. Nothing really. Hard beds and flat pillows. "Luxury-room" was just like the standard room we stayed last time, just a little bit extra space. Could hear noise from street, beds were like camper beds..low and not comfortable and were two beds pushed together..room 405 where we stayed was quite small. nothing. Only complaint is the bells playing next door at the church very early very hour. However this isn't the fault of the hotel and would not stop me using this hotel again. rooms for 3 were great but the 4th birth in the room wasnt really practical . ie 2 people on a camp bed. 3 was the limit really. But trhe cost reflected that. Nothing. It would have made our experience more comfortable if there was a second chair in the room and an extra pillow on the bed. Shampoo and conditioner was missing in the bathroom. awful noise from afternoon till morning (drinking people). Bathroom floor was very cold, and room was not particularly warm. Bit noisy from time to time. There was only one tv channel in English, not that we were there to watch tv. - the weather was hot and room had no aircon, so we slept with windows wide open. In the morning the bells ringing from the nearby church were very interrupting. Breakfast very much reflected East European tastes. fresh fruit and a better selection of cereals would have been appreciated.
