Gringo Bill's is kind of a wild place. Full of stairs and twists and turns. It's another world, but that's what we travel for. We spent a little more for a junior suite. A very comfortable and clean room with spacious bathroom and a balcony. I'm not sure about the standard rooms, which looked a little dark. Breakfast was ample but the room was a little dark for our taste. Best thing was the hotel desk staff, Claudia and Antonio, who bend over backward to help. If you choose to stay in Aguas Cal.
all reviews » The woman who greets us and runs the place was so welcoming and helpful. She let us use her laptop for a few hours when we had to change plans because of a family emergency at home. The beds were very comfortable, the room was quiet. The shower was hot and good pressure. The location is excellent; just off the main square, a couple of minutes walk to the bus station. Breakfast is set out early for those taking the first buses up to MP. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a bar just down the stairs from our room with complementary tea of all sorts. We stayed in room 17. There was a hard rain during the night. Very cosy! The room was large, clean and comfortable with a great shower. When we go back to Machu Picchu we´re going to spend two nights rather than one at Gringo Bill´s. Gringo bills is perfectly located just off the plaza enough to be quite but still in the center of things. The room was nice the balcony overlooked town. Breakfast was nice, the pools and some of the common areas were not functioning It look liked they hadn't in Been used in awhile. Otherwise everything was well cared for. Easy to find from the station and central to everything you need in aqua calienates. There was some modernisation taking place so probably didn't see hotel at its best. The rooms were well presented with the towels folded origami style, a good first impression. Al staff were friendly and very helpful. Excellent location, staff very friendly and helpful, good breakfast, bed and pillows very comfortable so we had a great night's sleep. I would certainly stay here again and would recommend it to friends. Claudia the receptionist was incredible! Everyone was very nice too but she really welcome us. The afternoon tea time and breakfast starting at 5am was perfect for the early hikers to Machu Pichu. Roomy and quaint design of the hotel and rooms. The advertised outdoor communal jacuzzi and soak pool were not functional (and looked weathered as if they had not been in use for quite a while). The jacuzzi/pool were one of the main reasons I had chosen this hotel. Very poor breakfast buffet options. I really felt like they were not very organized. Our guy (wilson) was very nice but didn't speak English very well and our checking in and out was problematic. It took a lot more time and was frustrating when you are tired at night checking in and when you are in a hurry in the morning it took a lot of time. Nothing. No Fridge Over priced for amenities TV, could not get to work No safe in room. By Peruvian standards it's quite expensive (but all hotels are in this area). Breakfast was rudimentary and room was musty (mouldy smelling) but it was the andean rainy season at the time of our visit. They did not accept Mastercard.. Bath room had a bunch of mold in it. Maybe from the high humidity? but still no good. Try some bleach or something. It was a little high price for not having wifi in the room. We rented a "Junior Suite." The 1st one we got (room #37) had inadequate heating for the large space, the jacuzzi tub was dirty, and the jets malfunctioned & filled the bathroom with water. With that, we told the staff we refused to stay in that room and luckily they had another "Junior Suite" to offer us. Smaller area & no jacuzzi but at least the small gas heater could heat the space. We would not have used a jacuzzi at this hotel after seeing the dirt in the 1st room's tub. Noisy the first night. Right off main square, which is both good and bad. Place was in ill repair hot water took forever and had a rusty smell rooms were very small and dark. To many stairs, very basic, staff appeared busy but polite, view from rooms blocked by dirty buidings. terrible lighting in room and very basic facilities. poor food. Cold water Staff not always available. room is dirty with mold smell all around, can't sleep well at all. the walls are thin that you can hear noises around. don't have a good sleep before the whole day hiking on MP the next day. the internet is not working. the staff speak poor or no english, and they just ignore your request. my room's safety lock is not working.
