Stayed for a weekend, booked a standard double room for one person via letsbookhotel.com. Nice price, 1800 nok for two nights including breakfast. Finding the hotel is easy, it's next to Stortinget in the centre of Oslo. The hotel has rooms with windows opening out to the streets as well as rooms with windows opening only to the restaurant/breakfast area in the middle of the hotel. I contacted the hotel in advance of my arrival, asking for a room with a window towards the street. They responded.
all reviews » Perfect central location. 1 minute from the Parliament, 3 minutes to the Town Hall and harbour. Less than 10 min walk from main train station. Staff very friendly, we even got upgraded from a superior room to a suite. Very clean. Breakfast selection very very good. Free wi-fi included, plus 2 PCs in the lobby connected to a printer, so we managed to check in and print our boarding passes on our last day. Great location right on Karl Johan. Booked a Superior room and was upgraded to a suite….what can I say! Excellent !! Staff all very friendly and the hotel on the whole was perfect in so many ways. Previous stays in Oslo have been at the Grand, and I will certainly now be changing to the Rica Victoria. Large, modern rooms with plenty of space; Helpful front desk staff; Wonderful location a couple blocks from waterfront and castle, right in the midst of restaurants and shopping; Extensive breakfast buffet (one of best I've seen in Norway). Location was very central and close to railway (National Theatre) it was also reasonably priced and had excellent facilities. Staff were very obliging and helpful. Very pleasant stay. You could easily walk to all the main attractions. the friendiness of the staff and their desire to help and make the stay perfect. In our superior room, we got two beds pushed together, instead of one big bed.. This made us not able to sleep close to eachother, cause then one of us would sleep in the crack between the beds. I even called them two days before we arrived to say that it was important that we got one big bed. When we got there they didn't have any rooms with one big bed.. Parking at the hoyel costs $50 per night. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Expensive for the price, but everything in norway is. Minor thing: bathroom area round the sink was a little dusty when we arrived. Nothing. Small detail: no standard amenities available in the room. Breakfast restaurant is very busy and they tell you where your table is. There were only one pillow per person and the water pressure in the shower was too weak. The wall picture in the room was depressing (room 709). Is not possible to stop AC, which is automatic in the whole hotel and could be noisy during night. Wifi connection is sometimes very slow. No Complaints!. no real issues of note. The room was internal … our window was looking in the breakfast lounge!. Limit choice of breakfast for muslim travellers. nothing. The hotel didn't have any ironing in the room, they did however have an ironing room on the ninth floor! But the ironing board was broken :( Good iron though. the room maid did not replenish tea/coffee bags in spite of a request. Some of the lights in the room did not work and the frig was not cold. Stay away from breakfast at peak times during weekend. Just not enough places. My Comfort value rating reflects this. I don't like the bed,2 beds joined together that is uncomfortable to 2 persons sharing in those beds. The temperature in the room was pretty hot. Tried to adjust it but still the warming was on. The breakfast Sunday morning was a bit crowded. We should have come down earlier. Needed an electrical supply overnight for charging a mobile phone, but could not without having a light switched on. Small room but adequate. Room design is questionable, I had to look at big picture of crying lady during all my stay. None. Carpets on the floor. Hard matrass in the bed. Few TV channels. View out of the window of the room on the 2nd floor (at the cantine of the hotel). Central location close to the most city attractions but far from train/bus station. No air conditioning, a bit expensive. No irons in rooms. There is an ironing room with a single iron and ironing board for the entire hotel. Price. Generaly, Norway is very expensive country. This type of hotel would cost you half of the Norwegian price anywhere else in Europe.
