Hotel Des Arts is around the corner from the Kalverstraat shopping area, in the heart of Amsterdam. The Dam Square, Royal Palace and the Flower Market are all within 500 metres. The rooms are simply decorated with old-Dutch touches and come with a private bathroom. Some of the rooms look out over the Amstel river, others are located at the more quiet back of the hotel. Breakfast is available each morning in the breakfast room. Tram stop Spui leaves right across the street and offers easy access to Amsterdam Central Station and popular sites such as Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank House. Within 400 metres, Rembrandt Square offers a wide range of bars and restaurants. Canal cruises depart 200 meters from Hotel des Arts.

The hotel was in perfect location in Amsterdam. People were very nice and helpful with all our questions and needs. the room was very nice and clean which i think is very important and the bed was very very comfortable. I stayed there 5yrs ago so chose it again.Good security at entrance, no outer door key but bell answered very quickly even late at night.My room was very comfortable, easily adjustable heating and always hot water for shower. Good position in the centre of city.

Not a dislike, but users should be aware that this hotel is two converted canal houses, so there is no elevator, lots of stairs, and the rooms have limited head room in some areas. the breakfast was not fantastic.smell of sewer from the shower drain. no elevator but not such a problem.For a city with such a nigth life, the breakfast should end by 11 am, not 10 am. This is too early. Some small things needed to be repaired in the bathroom, but it really didn´t bother us much. No elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up. But the hotel´s overall is really good. We were on the top floor. There is no lift and there are many stairs, the last flight was very steep. No problem for us as we have stayed there before, but something to bear in mind. I can't remember if this was mentioned on the website.the stairs. for me and my guests all was fine,should mention however that there is no elevator,one draw back is that my guest was not happy about the 4%surcharge if he paid with his credit card.that we had to go back in the room at 3:00 am. We were on third floor so had some steep stairs to walk up but wasn't too bad.The room temperature by nights was very high. room photo on website did not look at all like the room provided. There was no kettle in the room!! or fridge, it was a very basic room... Would have preferred a hot buffet breakfast. 150 euros / night and no tel and no fridge in the room. Really disappointed. Room nothing like the picture on the website. Verybasic and if you are a non-smoker, avoid this hotel.
