i liked the location of the hotel. i was (and have been in the past) with the friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff. It was really central, fantastic loacation.My friend and I stayed in room 102 which faced the street. If anyone reserves a double room, request this one. The building was a typical Dutch building: narrow stairways and small rooms. This was to be expected, though, because it is the norm in the Netherlands, Amsterdam especially, for rooms to be small. My friend and I had a great time, though, due to the proximity of the museums, restaurants, nightlife and public transportation. This is a great bargain hotel.

I loved the location near the museums and walking distance to many sites downtown, including the Rembrandt home and the history museum of Amsterdam with the Pilgrim church next to it. Wonderful place to stay the last weekend of August for the UIT market and all the free performances. Good breakfast and liked being able to use the breakfast room for relaxing during the day with free coffee/fruit. Very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast better than expected given the price (smoked salmon, meats, eggs, fruit), excellent location 2 mins from Leidsplein. The Staff were very helpfull, the hotel was plesent enough, thougheverywhere in Amsterdam seemed very overpriced. Pipes a little noisy (a problem if you are a light sleeper ... but if you did like me and was very busy during the day and exhausted in the evening - not a problem). The view. Windows broken. Double bed was two singles pushed together. Room lighting dim - important as natural light is lacking. Room needed decorating. lace curtains were a bit shabby.Very small rooms, poor maintance. price too high , bathroom uneasy, WIDOWS NEARLY "UNOPENABLE" !. small room, uncomfortable bed for two people. we expected better room (like one in the pictures in internet), we had a small room with view on the backyard (that means without day light). everything else was ok, exepct the room.old bathroom, cleanliness of the bed sheet and towels. The service was definitively bad.Room was not clean - there was hair and glitter on the bed. Didn't get a no-smoking room (I don't know if they even have one), so the smell was not very pleasurable. Bit noisy since the walls are more like card board, so bring your ear plugs. it was not clean. Room was same size as an average toilet. Price was very high for smallroom. The bed had to be very small to fit in the room. No tea or coffeemaking facility. Toilets dirty. Stairs way to steep for suitcase. I did not like the fact that my bed was dirty blanket and sheets had stains on them. this is my third time to amsterdam and this was the worst hotel I stayed at and the most expensive.Our room was in the basement down a neck breaking staircase, it was tiny, we could not move around trying to arrange our suitcase contents, very worn furniture, the plaster came off the walls, the bedding had hair on it, the bathroom was not inviting we were contemplating whether to take a shower at all, the bed wasright next to the breakfast room noisy mornings! Another guest had insects in bed!!.
