Staff were really friendly and the location was good! We went clubbing each night and came in around 6 but they had no problems with letting us in at whatever time. The guys at reception gave us about 100 maps because we kept asking for directions and they were really helpful! Clean towels everyday from cleaners and toilet roll always replenished. The hotel was walking distance to all main attractions such as dam square, red light district etc. would definitely recommend this hotel for young gr.
all reviews » I liked the fact there's an elevator, the place was clean and seemed nice. the owners seemed very nice and friendly and pleasant. there's a free breakfast with two kinds of breads, buns, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, sliced meat. It wasn't the best breakfast selection but it was pretty good for the value. Loved the resident cat that kept wandering in and out dying for attention :) the lounge/breakfast area was nice. I was a single marture woman, well travelled and fonund my room extremely comfortable and private; with a complete bathroom. Very pleasant #303 Front desk personel , especially Simon and Cora where extremle helpful. The Breakfastroom was ok, but always problems with the coffe expenser, and the variety of breads could have been better. Also some fresh fruit would have been nice; like apples. Very central location. Near leidseplaine, and vondelpark. Great to explore the Grachtengordel. Was able to keep my luggage in the hotel after check-out, as my coach wasn't until 11pm. Lift/elevator available. Basic breakfast, but it is a buffet so you can eat all you want. Good sized bathroom. Relatively quiet considering the location. Overall, a great night's stay!. perfect location, just minutes from the buzz, good public transport nearby, quiet street, the receptionist girl (30 September 2013) is the MOST helpful and kindest hotelstaff I have ever met. I had the top bunk in room 201 and there was a bogey smeared on the wall from a previous guest (gross). But the positives outway the negatives as half the time we were too drunk to care!. Tha there was no help with carriyng the luggage up and down; eventhough it has an elevator but one still had to use stair. Bits of dirt up the walls. Shelf above sink too large, so when washing my face the water went all over the floor as I had to try to avoid bashing my head on the shelf. Shower leaked and often too hot or too cold. Cats in the food area. Some people loved it, but I didn't find it hygienic. Very soft mattress, had a sore back in the morning. the door key didnt work nearly every day we stayed. had to go back to the reception to re-activate. Carpet in the room need a good wet-cleaning. As expected, a bit cramped up but that is not a complain.. i didn’t like that i didn’t have TV remote.:) had to stand up every time i change a program. Tv was broken on arrival, though we here offered the basement room which had a tv, which we declined. I wish if they had a hair dryer... Small room with a very cold bathroom. Late start of the breakfast. very small rooms, believe me. The breakfast served was very basic. Only a choice of cold foods, no choice of a cooked breakfast. The small toaster also made waiting for breakfast very long as there was always a queue of people. It was very noisy from other guests at times. Its a little noisy at times.The doors to the other rooms are very loud. the breakfast was poor no cleaning during stay from Friday to Sunday. not allowed to smoke inside. Of the staff we met only one spoke English very well. Amenities were virtually nonexistent. - too many people for the small room. so ne always needed fresh air in the room. - a little bit expensive for the service i had. Price, Amsterdam accommodations are expensive Breakfast is basic but ok WiFi is weak. Mixed sex people in the dorm very important: I was promissed to wake me up in the morning. It wasn't done.I Almost missed my plain. bed is too soft. We had a basement room. no proper window, just a celing window, so from about 4am it was bright daylight. That might have been ok if we'd been able to sleep, but the bed was a tiny double and very uncomforable so I spent the night trying not to fall out and then with the bright daylight, not a good night's sleep.was lucky if I got about 2 hours sleep. bed and bathroom. Smell, Cleaning. the room is very small. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. No better way to describe it other than a hovel. Dirty carpets, dirty walls and dirty curtains. A very small bedroom with no wardrobe facilities. Pay cash or an extra 3% for credit card. Best avoided if possible. The breakfast ended too early, and the room wasn't very clean (the bedding did not appear to be washed). Also, the room was not just small but was in the basement and had no windows. Hotel is not clean at all ... they do not change the sheets or clean the beds... I left the hotel and could not got rest of my money . The hotel is charging the credit card holders by 5% which is not mentioned in your web-site ( plus the city tax which is well-known ). Everything else, especially the unfriendly staff and the completely wasted rooms. You should only go to the Downtown Hotel, if you expect nothing at all. The room was terrible-it has converted me to chain hotels,at least you know with a chain what you are getting in advance.We could have stayed in a Marriott,Holiday Inn etc for the same or less money and got a far better room. way too expensive not clean staff wasn't friendly and seemed annoyed when we asked questions. temperature in the room . it was very very cold . Avoid room S01. room was tooooo small we asked the room in front of street but it has a little window without any view they give us the room too late. During our three nights stay keycards never worked, every time we returned to hotel we needed to ask staff to fix it. That was not the only annoying thing, but ok - it was still better than to sleep on the street, thanks for the bed. Except location nothing was good about this hotel. I really recommend not to stay in this hotel. Hotel also charged me extra for paying through credit card though was not mentioned in my booking. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in my life.
