Truly excellent service and the fact that you can have great conversations with staff and ask for good recommendations to get around the city. We had a fantastic room, very cosy, warm and well decorated but most importantly absolutely comfortable. The location was ideal for us, very close to the main streets of the Medina but far enough to have a moment of relaxation and to not be bothered. Located in a nice place, 5min from the main Blue gates (when entering through the gates, first street left, then turn right, and after 300 hundred meters left again, folow the sighs Dar Mehdi). Not sure if he made a mistake or on purpose. Evening meal on the roof terrace and breakfast was really wonderful, bi. Dar Mehdi proved an excellent choice for three days in Fez. Staff are very attentive - there are only four rooms - but never intrusive. We are a gay couple and that didn't appear to be a problem. The food was hearty but excellent and fresh. The owner (Mehdi) is a local master-craftsman in the tiling trade, and it shows in the decoration, which is traditional and wonderful. Lovely roof terrace. Location is reasonably convenient if you have a car, as it's quite close to the edge of the (car-free). My sister and I really enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect - easy access to the Blue Gate, yet in amongst the medina. The staff were lovely, and every request was attended to "with pleasure." We received an email prior to arriving offering for some one to meet us at a main point in the medina (as we had a hire car and the medinas a very complex to negotiate) and take us to a secure car park and guide us to the riad. The only point for improvement (a minor one) is the bathroom. It is slightly narrow, but that is the trade-off between having a couch in the room and more space to sit and a small shower. Nothing at all. When we had a few problems with our bathroom they were fixed within the half hour!. Hmmm...hard to think of a comment here. Nothing significant. The bathrooms (in particular the sinks) are quite small, though our shower was hot and powerful enough. The bed had sheets and blankets rather than a duvet. They didn't serve alcohol with dinner (I didn't ask if I could have brought some wine). The male staff member, Mohammad, was a little over-friendly with us (two young ladies), which was a bit uncomfortable. He was very helpful, but quite clingy and a bit too casual with us. Also, we were surprised when we were presented with quite a high bill for the dinners we had had. These are only minor points, though!. That we only had one night there!!! we wish we could have stayed for longer!!. location is in the medina, old town. so it's difficult to walk to hotel by yourself for 1st visit. after that it's not hard at all. however, there was a staff picking us up and guiding us to the hotel. another things I'm a bit in satisfied is tiny toilet. but I understand because this hotel has little space. anyway, overall is very good. I had a good experience in this hotel. Nothing at all. Nothing to dislike. The bathroom is really small - we knew that from the comments - but it wasn`t a big inconvenience. Bathroom is a bit small and a bit wet. It would be nice if breakfast can start at 8am instead of 8:30am. The bathroom is way to small and the drain didnt work. Room was superb except for sub-par bath: a 3ftx10ft room with sink and toilet on ends with shower in between, necessitating wearing their crocks for any visit. riad is in the car-free zone of the medina and on the first night, we were a bit apprehensive of the location. however, once there it is easy to find your way around. It was a little bit too much of Medina. We came back to the hotel at 1AM and it was not the best place to run through to this hotel (day time is fine). small bathroom. The beds were a bit over firm for us oldies. one room is a bit smelly and bathroom is too small. The bathroom is small, but it is adequate and there is hot water. Bathroom was really tiny - otherwise, was great. Nothing. Leaving. Bathroom was not great.
