It was a great pleasure for me to stay in Riad Malaika. Every detail, every piece of furniture and decoration is chosen with great taste and love. Everything is organized with attention to guests wishes. I have felt as if visiting some close relatives that had been waiting me for a long time. Homely breakfast and relaxed dinner, useful advice and comprehensive information, I can’t imagine how it can be better than as is. Experience in local hammam can’t be compared to any touristic place. all reviews » This was my absolute favorite place we stayed in Morocco. The riad is incredibly tastefully decorated. Traditional, but not excessive with tiles and tapestries, etc. Just very clean and well-decorated. The beds and bedding were comfortable and the rooftop a lovely place to relax. The best part by far was the incredibly helpful staff. Abdul was a saint. He showed us around the city, bought our onward tickets, and escorted us to restaurants and bus stations that otherwise would have been difficul. The staff was very friendly. Every single person we talked to was very helpful. We were recommended restaurants, bars, a place to ride quads, and everything was very good. The place itself is very charming, very clean, there are lots of places to sit and relax, from the main floor to the rooftop terrace. They have a menu with food and drinks available pretty much whenever you want and they bring it anywhere you want. They don't pressure you for tips, even though I am sure they would appreciate . Everything is great at this riad: staff, location, breakfast (really delicious and diverse), how it was decorated. Our room was cleaned every day and we got new towels every day. They offered to met us at the buss station and show us to the riad for free (and carried our luggage). The temperature in the room (on the first floor) was nice and cool even if it was the middle of the summer and the wifi was ok. The beach is extremely windy, but we used the terrace to sun bathe a bit, and it was grea. Attention to detail, personal service, & nothing was too much trouble for any of the lovely staff. The building itself has been beautifully renovated with all rooms being individually decorated using traditional Moroccan items, interspersed with some modern twists. Although my friend & I only stayed one night, we had a wonderful time there, & were given lots of helpful information on arrival by the manager to enable us to make the most of our short stay. Thoroughly recommended. The staff were attentive and friendly without being too intrusive. We felt very welcomed and were involved in an evening gathering as part of the Ramadam festivities. There were innumerable small touches to make our stay more comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful - woodsmoke, a real fire in the evenings, a running fountain, the decor, the roof garden, the rooms themselves ... Sylvia and her staff were always obliging helpful from beginning to end and made our stay easy. We loved the atmosphere of the Riad and the breakfast was delicious. The position was great.Thankyou for a great stay we would happily return. My 12 yr old daughter felt uncomfortable in Marrakech but loved Essaouira made so much better by Sylvia and her team. Wonderfully friendly Riad staff - all of them - from arrival to departure. For departure we had to leave @ 6am for Marrakech Airport. Abdul got up to have breakfast ready for us @ 5:30 and then walk us down to find the fast and furious taxi that would give us 2 hours of "thrills" . Thoroughly recommend. Neither my wife nor I could think of anything. I'm being a bit picky with this comment: it was a bit noisy. We had a window and there were a lot of kids outside screaming and crying during the day. Also the pet bird was quite noisy. You can pay with card but be aware that you have to pay 6% of the amount as tax. Nothing. Nothing. nothing. Nothing- but be advised that you will need a map to find it or to ask someone. The small pool in the centre of the reception area is rather hazardous as it has nothing in the centre, eg a fountain, to alert guests to its existence and is the same colour as the surrounding tiles. My husband has come back with a torn ligament in his knee as he tripped in the pool on his way to breakfast. No views from the room but the rooftop terrace made up for it. Nothing. Nothing!. There is nothing we didn't like. Just note there is no lift and no ocean view, at this time. Honestly - nothing. Nothing!. The room was clean, but if the everyday cleaning had been just a little more thorough it would have been perfect too. Limited space for breakfast (just a few tables at a sensible height for eating); breakfasts tended to vary from day to day in terms of the range of items offered. Lack of 'hands on' personal involvement of owners - manager very efficient and pleasant, but gave the place the feel of a small hotel rather than a home from home. Our room was fine but our friend's room was a little dusty and needed a good clean. Only problem was that there was some work taking place to the adjoining room for our last two days, but other than that it was good value. nothing really. Nothing. Perfect stay. impossible to have shutters open without sharing privacy with the neigbours across ( street about 3 feet wide). Water pressure and temperature temperamental. nothing to dislike. No bath No covered area on rooftop. Surcharge for using a credit card. some cheaper rooms might be small. Nowhere to hang the showerhead so you had to hold it by hand. Also the hotel itself is not where Google Maps indicates it to be and its poorly marked on the building itself. You'll probably end up paying a guy a few Dirhams to take you to the place like we did. Our roof top suite had lots of ants and was a fourth floor walkup. The photos make the place appear large, it's not. Needs a makeover big time. Maybe high ratings come in comparison to what's available in Essaouria. Our least favorite stay in three weeks in Morocco. Riad Malaika doesn't live up to its 9,2 review for me. Rooms look nice, but small things just don't justify it. In our room, the bed wasn't straight, the cold water tap wasn't running and the room was rather damp. The kitchen makes a lot of noise in the morning, and because it is all open plan, you hear quite a lot of it in the room. It could use airco and a locker.
