We arrived just after having stayed in the jungle at Sepilok (which was after days of diving and a long bus journey), so we really needed somewhere clean and comfortable. The Sheraton Sandakan far exceeded my expectations on both fronts. It was extremely good value for money. Staff were all very friendly and professional, going the extra mile for us as well. Breakfast was good, with a range of options to suit the Asian or Western palate. Location was convenient - it took us less than an hour.

Especially Stella.What ever we asked they went out of their way to help us. Great location to visit some of the amazing nature locations (Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, Discovery Centre, War Memorial etc). Within 2 1/2 hour drive of Mount Kinabalu. The Four Points Sandakan is a top class Hotel that excels in every way. The room was superb in every way. The views were fantastic. The breakfast was superb. The pool was superb. I cannot heap enough praise on this Hotel. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable. This is a good place to stay for a night or two when planning your trips into the jungle or out to the islands. Good, clean comfortable rooms with nice views. The staff here are very good; we found Saima, Eric and Redzik to be particularly helpful. The hotel infront the sea. Just sitting inside the hotel you can view the see and all local activities on boat, fisherman boats, orang bajau laut on boat, cargo ship and cost guard and navy ship. The food is good and the staff also a very nice. It seems to be the best option for staying in Sandakan. We were granted a late checkout (4 p.m.) for no extra costs, also got an upgrade for our room. Very friendly and professional service, a nice view, all was good. Clean and new hotel.. View on Sandakan Bay is beautiful.. Free wifi in all the hotel areas.. Good service at the reception.. The Room very clean, very good cellphone reception, nearby eateries & food, super view from the room, seaside and habour/pier view, super view from the breakfast and swiming pool !!!. This is my second time at this hotel. Again, the staff were great and the value for money amazing. A very nice breakfast to get you started for your jungle and wildlife adventures. The whole concept of the hotel are superb, well maintain, staffs were very helpful, enjoy the room, the view and of course the stay :-)...definitely a preferred choice in SDK. the views from the room, closeness to the markets and jetty, the free drinks in the executive lounge, the polite approach from Syntio the general manager. very good food too. Hotel not fully developed, some floors left unattended & should be closed to public. please treat us malaysian same as foreigner when we enter door at ground floor since bellboy they will open door for foreigner only. Nothing . Nothing. An adjacent seafront without cockroaches - a rather nicer promenade. Kids using swimming safety equipment as toys. Club lounge is only open for 90 mins a day and choice of drinks and food was too little. Maybe it was running low occupancy; there was some moisture smell along walkway of the rooms. Breakfast choice is not too bad but most of the food need to wait to be cooked upon order. No spa or sauna, but that's a small complaint!. The surrounding of the hotel on side was the market place and the ambience was a little wanting. Not very clean. Not very impressed with Sandakan but loved the hotel. The restaurant was average. Good for breakfast but dinner menu needs to improve. Although the views were excellent... The harbour area had a distinct odour... Sandakan might have a problem with sewage!. Photos of hotel / pool and water views look so much nicer in pictures then in real life. Ocean looks like a rubbish tip. Western Food very bad. Booking activities through hotel cost you triple as if you went right to activity agent on street. Power interruption in town is quite frequent, but that is beyond the control of hotel. Parking. Badly-planned especially the spiraling access/exit. Not enough facilities such as spa, massage and reflexology. Didn't like the only restaurant they have which is good for only breakfast as it looks more like a cantine!. getting into the shower was difficult - climbing into a bathtub is not easy for over 40s and older people are at risk of falling and being injured. Aircon takes too long to cool the room down - while the bed covers are luxurious and warm, the aircon needs to be COLD to be able to sleep comfortably. Alternatively, the hotel could offer thinner cotton blankets for people who need them. Neighborhood may be a bit rough for some. Staff service incredibly slow with poor comprehension of English. Swimming pool there nobody guide.Allow the people swimming there was wearing clothes not swimming suit.so felt uncomfortable in pools & felt dirty.very destroy my holiday mood.
