Kimchee hostel was located not far from Hongdae's busy area. First time I went there I asked the tourist information around Hongdae about the location of the hostel and the staff was giving me the address to be shown to a taxi driver. But when we took taxi, it's not too far! the taxi fare gone high because traffic are everywhere in Hongdae (on weekend) so after I took a walk around Hongdae, I can definitely walk and the direction is so easy. It was a nice experience since this is my first time . all reviews »
This is my second stay with Kimchee, and they're now my go-to place when I'm around Hongdae. The staff members are super friendly, they provide towels for free (whereas some hostels make you pay), and there's a little kitchen area that guests are free to use. Add to this the free wifi available in the whole hostel and there's not much to complain about.
The staffs were great! Martin, David and Sang-Ye are always working and extremely helpful. They're very approachable and friendly. The location was convenient. There are many places to eat, activities to do at night and it is close to the subway as well. I also loved the lobby area. It was a great way to socialize and meet other travellers as well.

Best guesthouse I've ever stayed in!! The staff are so friendly and helpful. Really clean, cheap and in a fantastic location. Don't come to Seoul without checking out (or rather checking in to) Kimchee Hongdae!!.
The guesthouse is near a subway station and a lot of restaurants. Staff is very helpful and most of the guest are very nice. Everyone in the staff speaks english, some even speak a couple words of french.

Bathrooms aren't luxurious, but if you want anything fancy you should go to a hotel, not a guesthouse.

It was a bit difficult to find, and off the beaten bath (as it were) but that can't really be helped.
the electronic socket on the 8-person-dorm room. it didn't work well.
There's no shower curtain! Everywhere is wet while taking a shower.
And if you meet certain roomates who don't respect other people on the aspect of hygiene, you'd be better to choose the upper bunk.
