  We stayed two nights at the Uotoshi Ryoken. Fantastic service. The owner and his sister were warm, welcoming and friendly. The owner spoke great English which made things a lot easier given we had very little Japanese at our disposal. The Ryoken is an easy five minute walk from the Yudanaka Rail Station and is easy to find. I'd thoroughly recommend staying at - The friendliness of the owner and his sister put us at ease after a long flight and train ride. The archery demonstration was very interesting, and the recommendation for the sumo wrestler restaurant was great. Plus, it was really nice to get a ride of the base of the mountain where the monkey park is located.

  Staff were really accommodating and helpful despite the language barrier. The breakfast and dinners provided were AMAZING- made me excited to come back from skiing. Onsen was nice too.

  We arrived at Yudanaka Station within the pick-up timeframe, went to the info desk and they called the hotel for us which was a great help. They arrived within 5 minutes to collect us. We were greeted with a welcome tea and mochi and showed to our room. Room was amazing, really authentic, spacious and clean. You get a key to all 9 of the onsen in the town which were all in walking distance and there is also - Having spent 3 weeks travelling around Japan, my highlight of the trip was my 2 nights in Senshinkan Matsuya. The owners were so helpful and friendly, picking me up from the train station, driving me to the monkey park (a great experience by the way) and dropping me back to the station the morning I left. During my stay I was lucky enough to opt for a traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner which were both superb. Shibu Onsen itself is a wonderful place with 9 public bath houses which are fun
