Me and my partner stayed at New Miyako Hotel from 16th - 21st of August 2013. We can easily find the hotel as it's very close to Kyoto station. There's lots of shopping and eateries to choose from. We also enjoy bar lagoon in the basement as well as the souvenir shop. The staffs are amazing and they help us book the Kyoto tour trip. The room is reasonable size and comfy seating chair is really good and we can see Shinkasen trains from our hotel windows. It couldn't be better, Thanks so much fo.
all reviews » The location was great. In front of Kyoto station. There is a shopping mall at the next block (AEON), where there are many stores, and also Daiso (100-yen shop). The Toji temple was near from this hotel, as well as Kyoto Aquarium. To get to most temples, travelers have to take bus lines, that are just across Kyoto station. Staff friendly. Money exchange inside the hotel. Excellent location just a few minutes walk from the Kyoto Train Station which has a great range of moderately-priced food options. Room was quiet at night even though rail tracks were just across the street. Staff, in particular the doorman, were so friendly and helpful! Aircom was good and wifi in room worked perfectly. Hotel was located right across the street from the kyoto station, which was a relief as we didn't have to walk too far in the cold weather. The interior was really nice and comfortable. The helpful, friendly staff who understood our requirements sometimes with a slight language barrier but nothing to complain about. I had booked a superior double room but got a small single in in the same price. I wanted to extend my stay but was told a room was not available. I was most disappointed. bathrooms are bit small. Some staff have poor comment of English. We have difficulty asking for coffee. Breakfast could improve with more authentic Japanese food. Foreign money changing is limited. Unfortunate that one taxi driver tried to cheat me but the hotel security came to my help. No laundry to do your own washing. I wish the breakfast could've been purchased as a package as I had done through others sites. The floor hall was very dark. Buffet was a bit minimal. Woken several times by strong cigarette fumes through airconditioning, in a non-smoking room. No other criticism. Py TV choice of movies were old and boring. The advertisment said latest releases but found movies were many years old. The breakfast is rather expensive & not included in room rate. No safety box in the room. Expensive to eat there,. It is a large city hotel and the prices in the restaurant seemed a little high. Fortunately, being across from Kyoto Station there were plenty of options. Beer garden on the roof was great (unlimited food and drinks) but would have been even better if you could go there and just enjoy a drink. Crawded. Breakfast a bit pricy but have 10% discount and 3 different restaurants to choose from. Either combined Japanese/western, Japanese or western. the air conditioning did not have enough option ssuch as low mode. Windows to the station - heavy bullettrain traffic. Only minor issue is that the rooms/decour was a little bit dated. Not enough closet space. None. The hotel is packed with tourists, mpst in groups. Hotel receptionist(s) speak very little English. Very hard beds but you got used to them, they weren't that bad. The beds were very hard, but apparently the "Superior" rings have softer beds. Poor wifi connection Air con not working. A bit expensive for weekend stay. Toilet is too small. cost performance despite not including breakfast...
