Excellent location in the centre of Kyoto, it is near various places of interest and additionally the hotel is above underground station which makes getting around Kyoto a breeze. Excellent rooms, excellent air conditioning and clean, modern bathrooms. Staff very friendly and courteous. Almost all staff speak excellent English. Brilliant bakery in the lower floor of the hotel, you must try the curry buns!.
all reviews » We get a good view of the river and Hiragashiyama through the big window. With three beds, the room still has a lot of space. And bathroom is large, too, which surprised us because we thought hotel rooms in Japan were very small. The staff here are very nice and warm. The location is great: it connects the subway station, and you can take a leisure walk at night by Yuka. Higher end hotel with smaller footprint than large Marriott/Hyatt-type hotels. Rooms larger than other rooms I stayed in Japan. Great location next to City Hall w/ underground subway entrance into hotel. Very close to Teramachi (?) and Nishiki shopping district, as well as Pontocho. Would stay here again. lovely and so helpful service from all staff.the bakery was so good in the basement.as in our 1st trip to japan we are so impressed with safety, service, friendliness and cleanliness.nothing was too much trouble even from strangers on the street.will return perhaps to a different area next time. We used shuttle bus to Welcome lounge at Kyoto station on our departure and conveniently left our luggage there while still enjoying few more hours around Kyoto. The staff was very helpful and friendly, our room was large and comfortable, and the location was within walking distance of shopping and plenty of restaurants. I would go back for,our next visit, and highly recommend hotel Okura. Friendliness and efficiency of staff. The hotel is a bit dated but the location and service of the staff is excellent. Will likely stay again in Okura on our next trip to Osaka. The price is not very expensive for a 5 star hotel. Though the single room was a little bit tiny, the view of the room was very nice. Surchage of 2,100 or 3,100 Yen for health club. Small room looking onto air conditioning unit. Slightly musty smell in the room. Also rather out of date decor. The hotel was slightly pricey but with the service & spacious amenities made it worth it!!. The size of the rooms are fairly enough. Nothing. Nothing. Too noisy from the ambulance car and firetrucks. I guess it's the hotel window doesn't have the aeroseal window . Nothing. No need for coffee in the room, more tea needed promoting local brands and taste. No spa. Very expensive on site dining. Small Room given. It had a very old feel about it with the staff uniforms and style of service. Very formal . My bed was extremely hard and the towels were not thick and fluffy as expected. The interior is very old with the outside corridors waste of space. The normal prices per room are far too expensive , we got a special deal otherwise it would have been $600 AUS per night. Rooms could do with upgrading, no complimentary drinking water, had to pay to use gym and pool.

Please note that some of the hotel's restaurants have a dress code, and some do not allow children under 10 years of age. The fitness centre is accessible only for adults ages 18 and above. The hotel's Welcome Lounge at Kyoto Station is located on the ground floor of the Cerema Building. It's open daily from 09:00 until 18:00, and accessible only to staying guests. Free shuttle locations and schedules: - From the Welcome Lounge at Kyoto Station, the shuttle departs at the top (--:00) and bottom (--:30) of every hour between 09:00 and 18:00, except at 12:30 and 15:00. - From Kyoto Hotel Okura, the shuttle departs at --:05 and --:35 every hour between 08:05 and 17:35, except at 12:05 and 14:35. Please note that the shuttle takes about 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Staff will meet guests at the hotel lobby or the Welcome Lounge. The luggage delivery service operates as follows. Luggage received by 14:00 at the Welcome Lounge, will arrive at the hotel by 17:00.
