When booking on the internet often what you see is not what you get. I am delighted to say that the Hotel Okura, Kobe certainly met with our expectations. The room despite being configured as a triple was still very spacious. It was well appointed and spotlessly clean. The panoramic view from our room was beautiful both day and night. The staff were all very helpful and the service was impeccable and could not be faulted. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone consid.
all reviews » Large room for being Japan, luxurious, great amenities - you don't need to bring any supplies, great view from our room on the 24th floor. The location is good for accessing nearby Harborland for shopping, and also just a few blocks away from the high-end shops towards Motomachi. Shuttle bus to/from central station (Sannomiya) was very convenient. We stayed for a week and got a great price - back home we wouldn't even get an average business hotel for this price. We stayed from Weds- fri and got a great deal for a large room with an amazing view of harbour. We requested a room higher up which is much nicer for views. We did try to extend but the cost went up a lot for fri eve and for more last minute booking so we recommend you book early for the best deal. Best quality for the price we paid of all hotels we stayed in Japan! It really was a bargain, considering the spaciousness of the room, the wonderful views from our room on the 24th floor and the general feeling of luxury the hotel radiates. Location by the port is actually nice. Size of room for my family of 3 ( 1 adult kid) was roomy and comfortable. In fact biggest and best room in 4 cities ( Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe) over 8 nights. The free bus shuttle from JR Train station to hotel and Kobe Harborland was a +ve surprise. nice location with two faces of the hotel tower having view on the sea. big comfy room, nice bathroom, clean, nice staff, close to Kobe centre for shopping (5-10 min walk) I recommend to go to the mountains just behind Kobe, very pretty !. Staff is super helpful, I left something in the room and they helped me sent it to Osaka 2 days after I left! Very pleased with their service throughout my stay and appreciate their help!. Hotel has an excellent location and view, right on the harbour. Motomachi subway is about a 5min walk away. Staff were extremely attentive. Good value for price of room. The views were superb. A little dated interior in the rooms, however only style wise, everything was in impeccable condition. Location is a little bit off, especially if you don't really know the area, but this is not a big problem. Breakfast pretty pricey at about 2000 yen. The downside of the location is that the entrance is in front of a set of elevated roads which slightly cut off the hotel and the port area from the rest of the city, not a major problem though. Rooms are starting to look a bit dated. No WiFi in the rooms, only in the lobby. We were woken up by the 6.3 magnitude Earthquake off the bay from Kobe Okura Hotel for two minutes between 5.35-5.37am on April 14. Our 18th floor shook but we kind of knew that the hotel is built to withstand large quake like this and we were right. the view was on the ocean and on the main road of Kobe, but not bothered by the noise. Our room was really quite dated - like stepping back into the 80s! Saying that it was comfortable. No wifi. Location away from the Kobe downtown. Hotel were a bit traditional and old fashioned. Not much. The only downside's that as I was travelling by public transport, it's been a little hard to find the exact entrance of the hotel from google map. I would recommend other people travelling by taxi. 1, the sigh and the guide to the hotel should be clear for the first time visit Kobe's friend. A little bit oldish. Must pay everything separately. I was expected to have a room towards the sea side, and very disappointed when I get the side opposite. Food service not convenient at the location. Nothing. you need to pay for swimming pool and fitness room. while booking the hotel the price differs if i book it over the phone and on the net.i thought it was a little inconvinient. I find it strange to charge your guests 21 usd to use the indoor swimming pool. no wifi in the room. breakfast not included in the deal. Room had strong residual cigarette odor. v poor english on the concierge counter. no wireless internet and having to sort small change and deal with internet cafe by reception to confirm flights. screen is in japanese and the cost was less than £1. the grief involved in being made to DIY this when I asked the hotel to do it was unnecessary and spoiled my view of the hotel. Also the spa is v expensive even for hotel guests. if you promote a spa and p[ool then it si free unless you state clearly otherwise. No WiFi for room. Only hotel lobby has WiFi, albeit signal is weak. Perhaps in the booking or website to provide details of their shuttle service upfront. It was only through email exchanges that I've learnt about their shuttle service, its pick-up point/schedule, etc. For a luxury hotel it is in much need of renovation.
