The warm welcome and friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The location was perfect, far enough from S. Marco to avoid the noise of the crowds yet close to both public transport and major attractions. The hotel has only been open for six months and their attention to detail together with many personal touches make this hotel memorable. The location of the hotel, management and the front desk personnel. Theroom was wonderful. This hotel has recently (May, 2008) reopened after atwo year rennovation. The price for comparable hotels in the area weremuch more. The staff was very accomodating with requests and assistancewith dinner suggestions and reservations as well as transportation tothe airport.

The decor of the hotel was gorgeous, comfortable and was such good value for money. We will definately be going back soon again. everything! the hotel is situated on the lagoon, as far as I could tell every room has a view and you are just beyond the crowds and congestion, but close to all transportation and shopping options. The staff was very helpful with any request including reservations for tours and resaurant suggestions!!!. The location, right on the waterfront and over looking the sea and while yes there was a view of St Marks Square, the short walk there was not a problem. The hotel was the best of my tour around France and Italy, amusingly one I booked myself and not thru the agent. Facilities were excellent, even in our standard room. Bucintoro is far from San Marco 10/15 minutes by foot. Other guests complain about news papers, small rooms, poor breakfast, no....I was on vacation, there was LCD TV with a good CNN, good breakfast. We might have settled in for the evening had the atmosphere been a little more condusive. We did think that subdued lighting and candles might have done the trick. This is meant by way of constructive criticism.not cheap ( but its Venice ) , not sure if its 4 star if it has no restaurant and a minute bar. Bathroom gave off a bit of "sewery" smell- just be sure to keep toilet lid down and bathroom door closed which helped the smell. My only (small) complaint is that the baby cot allowed for our 8 month old to fall down the sides which he manged to do twice during our stay. The breakfast was weak and the servers kind of grumpy. very warm in bedrooms, bedrooms quite small. Unfortuantely it was rather loud in our room because we were unable to adjust the room temperature ourselves-it was locked out-and so we needed to open our window for fresh cooler air. This also, unfortuantely, allowed lots of mosquitoes in which kept us up much of the night.the internet service is provided for a short period of time, and you have to renew the user id/password all the time - not very good, especially if you are in a middle of a conference!. breakfast room was small so had to wait 20 minutes for a table.Relatively slow internet with complex login procedures. it was a bit misleading about a roof terrace - its only for the suite not for all guests; no tea making facility in room, but its less common in Italy I suppose.
