all reviews » The hotel is in an excellent location on the lakeside. It is quiet but within an easy walk of shops, restaurants and lake ferries. The food was of excellent quality and quantity. The staff, all Italian, could speak good English and German and went out of their way to be helpful, even offering an alternative if the food was not to one's taste. They also catered for coeliacs.Swimming pool, garden, towel service, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, situation. excellent beds and food and friendly staff who were very tolerant of our poor english. Everyting it was lovely and would definatly go back. Convienient,great view of garda, Good breakfast. Pleasant, friendly suroundings. The location, gardens and general ambience was very relaxing. In comparison to the other Italian hotels we stayed in over this holiday I think it was over priced. Area of the pool was noisy (traffic). We had to have breakfast seperateof our friends, becouse their reservation was a standard double room.(Hotel Smeraldo). Sleeping in another building is ok, but breakfast no. Very bad shower, no water pressure and the toilet stopped working one morning. meals too expensive for quality received. The Smeraldo Breakfast Menu was too basic. bathroom rather small and no ventilation. The standard of food was not great with us being asked to tick off what we wanted from an A4 sheet of paper. Although we booked a superior room (in April) there were no superior rooms available on arrival and we were obliged to stay in a standard room in annexe on the other side of the road.The annexe has no facilities and is not staffed other than at breakfast times.However this was not a major problem at all and the hotel reduced the room rate. Breakfast could be considerably improved. Perhaps it was that we (from the Southern Hemisphere) are not used to the style of food served. Also the distance from the food display area to the seating area was ridiculous. Coffee was served almost cold, hot water for tea was, at best, lukewarm.Air condtioning not adequate and breakfast could have beter. Staff were not overly friendly but that was not exclusive to the hotel. restaurant-buffet breakfast was fine but layout of restaurant not ideal. Limited drawer space in the room. No suitable bar area in the evening. No variation of the food at breakfast time - ok for a limited time but boring after a few days.Continental Breakfast not up to acceptable standard. I asked for a non-smoking room at the moment of my reservation. There was a lot of room available, so why did the staff let me to stay at a smoking room?. Staff not very helpful. Evening meals were very poor quality. Very loud noises were heard coming from roof during a storm - impeding sleep. Breakfasts were truly dreadful. Airconditioning in room could not be regulated to provide a comfortable temperature for sleeping.Location of swimming pool. Should have been by lake, not surrounded by hotel building. the hotel was not well lit, our room was particularly dark. Did not like having to queue for breakfast on a couple of mornings.We were 3 days without hot water, which made it impossible to take a shower. Absolutely no.We were here for the second time, because we like this hotel.we liked very much the open area in the eating room as it was in the past- the view to the lake and the morning breeze.Thr room was was in depadance building and it was freezing cold during night. It is sommer hotel and it shouldn't be in use in December. It's not fare if you are booking room from La Paul hotel and when you arrive to Hotel hotel stuff let's you know that your room is actually on the other side of route "Smeraldo" (Different Hotel). There is not own reception, breakfest is worser than in La Paul etc.At the web its write that the hotel have ac but they told me that the acgoing to work just on june it was very hot in the room and alot of bugs.
